LA Noire to feature PS3-exclusive content, 'Consul's Car Traffic Case'
100
While catching up on our everyday viewing of The Daily Show on Hulu, we noticed an advertisement for Team Bondi's forthcoming detective drama, LA Noire. According to a note displayed at the end, the "Consul's Car Traffic Case" will only be available in the PS3 version. Though we weren't quick enough with our cameras, a cheetah-like commenter on Rockstar's blog snapped the pic you see above, confirming the case. Red Dead Redemption fans will no doubt remember Rockstar offering similarly exclusive PS3 content in last year's Wild West shooter.
As VG247 reports, a Rockstar staffer allegedly told the commenters to "Look for more details on that, coming soon" with regards to the PS3-exclusive DLC, but that comment has since been removed. Either way, with just over a month until the game's official launch, we expect to hear more about the Consul's Car Traffic Case soon.
[Thanks, MLC]

@sammo21 I thought the PS3 version of GTAIV was the better.. 360 may of been the higher res, but you could get into building before they had loaded.. and there was some roads that had barriers that usually loaded after you had picked your teeth up of the tarmac

The PS3 version was better until the 360 added the ability to install games... There's still pop-in a little, but now all the major issues are fixed.

@Apsac D GTA 4 was a Downgrade to me, just because it has great graphics doesnt mean its a great game, LOL out of nowere ikr :). La Noire Looks like every other game Rockstar has made sad tho I will pick it up when i can afford it and after i complete the game maybe it will be lucky enough to go in the dumpster like gta 4 and rdr had a great story but after you do 100% it makes you want to throw up when you play it again. Which takes me back to all rock star games are clones XD, still gonna play la noire tho. Im stupid :)

In the grand scheme of things, this doesn't really matter except for multiplatform owners. It's just one case.

When you look at the big picture it does because it will sway future console owners one direction for the next purchase. We've been seeing a lot of PS3 exclusive content as of late.

it will? i fail to see how a few extra bits of dlc will sway potential console buyers to choose one over the other. i know that's never what i was concerned about when buying a console. to be honest, i'm getting tired of this whole dlc exclusive nonsense and dlc in general. when i buy a game i want the complete version of that game. quit nickel and dime-ing us, games industry!!!!

@NuttyBalls I dont see how this unknown DLC is going to do that......Even if I was JUST buying a console and REALLY loved Rockstar....I dunno if I would get a PS3 JUST because of this unknown content.... Especially for the possibility that MS might drop yet another check to get the next GTA games Add-on content timed exclusive again....

@baby sea tuna Infamous didn't relly grab me at all, I'll see if there's a i2 demo when I have Uncharted 3. Don't think I'm much of a sandbox superhero, of all the options I only liked the first Crackdown (it was the storming bases that was fun, not the exploration - yet I love Fallout & Elder Scrolls)

@Jack Kevorkian Yeah, that is clearly not the point being made.
At this point in the cycle, the decision to buy a first console is made of many things. I personally have both consoles, and buy almost everything on PS3. But most of my friends have them, and not Xbox. I know that is not common. The fact that Sony has had a lot of exclusive content on multi-plaform games is as significant as the same having been true of earlier Xbox versions. I remember a bunch of people saying they'd buy an Xbox because of the extras. And, in your scenario, it may not be the "one traffic case" that sways the PS4/X720 buyer. But the fact that Sony is getting more than MS at the midpoint of this cycle might be recognized as a reason to lean Sony's way.

i think the debate in question is whether or not you're actually missing out on anything worthwhile by choosing the ps3 version over the 360 version. my guess is that you won't be, and who knows? this just might be another case of timed exclusivity dlc that will also be on the 360 soon enough.

I'm not a big fan of console-exclusive items unless there's the possibility of them coming to other consoles, and that's coming from someone with all three consoles.

Most "exclusive" DLC does make it's way down the pipeline eventually to other consoles and retailers. Preorder bonuses at various retailers will be able to be purchased later, and I assume the same is true for console timed exclusives.

The downside is that most of it comes "too little, too late" for people who bought the game at launch to be interested in the DLC (unless it's an evergreen DLC game like CoD Map Packs or something.)

Most multiplatform titles I end up buying on Xbox.
But this game began development as a PS3 exclusive, if I remember correctly. So I'm really excited to see if R* has optimized LA Noire for the PS3.
Usually, multiplayer is the main deciding factor in buying a game for Xbox instead of PS3. But as far as I know, that's not an issue here...?

@JonahStein You are correct... Sony initially funded this game to be a PS3 exclusive, until they pulled out and put the money into another Rockstar title - The Agency.

Geez, Sony, that's quite the exclusivity-coup, you've got there. A brand new case, about, uh, traffic violations...or something...
...hopefully, we'll soon be hearing about the exclusive Call of Duty DLC for PS3 where you play as a U.N. official who makes verbal arguments against U.S. military intervention. It'll be just like the main CoD campain...
...only without the guns. Or the enemies. Or the "anything interesting."

All this boils down to is Rockstar trying to play Nice with Sony after making THIS multiplatform after they dumped money into it along with the fact that GTA4 had that timed 360 content.....I STILL won't believe that Agent is PS3 Exclusive until its been out for a year and STILL not on the 360.....

they did the same with red dead. also, i don't think rockstar regrets the 360 timed dlc at all, given the fat stacks of cash they got out of the deal. anyway, if this dlc is anything like the exclusive red dead content, than this probably isn't anything to get excited about.

@Chris DPSN AggieCEO XBLThe Aggi i didnt know the history of this game to be honest as I only recently became reinstated in the R* army after RDR which I greatly enjoyed. They lost me for a while with GTA which I did not like very much at all.
I am sure R* is firmly in the MS camp since their games are 100% western centric and MS has the west on lockdown.

I remember RDR had something similar, exclusive content, it was no worth over the 360 version with better visuals and HD ( not sub HD like the PS3 version) Well if you have both consoles, if not any version should be fine
