Oh well. F*cking Run sounds good. We'll see about the others.

Props to them for not recycling the standard Capture the Flag or Deathmatch for the millionth time.

@FuriousMailman

Why is it so hard to the multiplayer even remotely decent in the FEAR games? It sucked in 1 and sucked even harder in 2. Sounds like it's going to be mediocre at best with 3. :(

"Contractions is a near carbon copy of the Call of Duty developer's "Zombies" mode, in which a pregnant Alma's contractions (yes, really) produce progressively tougher waves of enemies."

...The ending of HOTD:OVERKILL quickly came to mind, disgustingly enough. Anyway, of the entire article, the part about the game's launch being six weeks away and development on multiplayer is still in structuring/coding under the gun makes me concerned for the quality of the product. Might have to rent this one first.

Judging from the FEAR 3 pics I'm seeing here, it feels like I'm back in 2004 with those graphics.

"I didn't find any of the gametypes to be particularly unique or exciting."
That could be said about almost all of the F.E.A.R. ip.
They try so hard with this brand but it always comes out as kinda "meh"

Agreed. It's just another in a sea of mediocre, generic FPS games.

@akeso I sincerely hope that's a joke. The original game was incredibly unique and set a standard for FPS games upon its release. The second one's another story entirely, but to say "all" of the F.E.A.R. franchise (which amounts to two games, for the record) is pretty silly.

Doubtful... the standard was set with Half Life 1
And the FPS Multiplayer explosion began with Counter-Strike (which was a part of the Half Life release I believe).

Technically, there were also the 2 FEAR 1 expansions, but they weren't developed by Monolith and were easily the weakest in the franchise. I have to agree that the first FEAR was incredible though. The slide kick was sooo overpowered. Fond memories...

FEAR 1 was easily one of the most underrated multiplayers in recent history. It was incredible. Fantastic array of weapons, good balance, and relatively good levels.

FEAR 2 I don't remembering being so great.

I like it when its a slightly more arcade-like experience, so hopefully they make it fast-paced and give the weapons some actual weight to them. I know realistic sounding bullets are all the rage, but they just don't sound cool.

eh, i think almost all of FEAR fans are interested in the single player/co-op experience. i dabbled in fear 2's multi very briefly, didnt care for it. I got into the original FEAR too late (multiplayer was dust).

If they took out all the 'fluff' modes and just focused on the single player/co-op and F**king Run, it would be ok.

If the game's 6 weeks out, then the development window closed an awfully long time ago.

I've played so many identical online shooters anything with the slightest difference is worthy of applause. The article makes it sound as though more development time is needed.
