I saw the words "pirates" and "dark water" and almost flipped out! I thought they were making a new game based off that cartoon.
But it's just some stupid "not-cartoon."

Jeez, why didn't that one dude use the Voodoo doll at the start? It certainly would've save the trouble of getting sucker punched a few times, and now part of the treasure will have to go to medical bills.

Nice trailer, and the PC screenshots look pretty too. Having neither played any of the series nor heard anyone raving about it, are my main concerns.

@Assmar Then allow me to rave about it. I just played Risen for the first time last month, and after ~45 hours, I can tell you that it's the best RPG I've played in years. Very much like Oblivion, but more a bit tighter all around (combat, quests, etc.). One of those games that really convinces you that you can go anywhere and do anything, without leaving you aimless. The demo really doesn't do it justice, however, as it ends right before the game starts getting interesting. Mind you, I played this on PC, and have heard that the 360 port was pretty terrible.

I was unimpressed by what little I played of Risen...maybe they can sway me this time around. I do have a weakness for random Euro-RPGs...

I'm cautiously optimistic for this one. The first Risen wasn't bad, the world was damn pretty, and the combat was well done...for the first few times. Then you stumble into tediumville and want to smash things. And that's not even mentioning the completely and utterly unfair amounts of damage you take versus how little you dish out.

@Jennacide Risen and Gothic are both famous for being RPGs with consistent challenge. The idea is the monsters are said to be strong... so therefore they actually are.
Gothic got TONS of hate from people that feel entitled to a victory, it was insane. I'm glad the developers have stuck to their guns.
