Sonic Adventure and sequel get 20th anniversary soundtracks
27
The soundtracks to the Dreamcast's Sonic Adventure games are being re-released in Japan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first game's arrival back in 1991. The track listing isn't the full version of the soundtrack, evidently, but the first disc will have the classics, including the "It Doesn't Matter" theme as well as "Open Your Heart." The Sonic Adventure CD is due out on May 18, with Sonic Adventure 2 following on June 22.
CDJapan will be selling both for about $27, and Amazon Japan also has preorders available. Ah, the memories -- we can almost feel that giant killer whale smashing up the pier behind us.

You know it's a lot easier to make money on something if you release it in more than one region.Only way to get this in the US is piracy? Bummer. I'd buy it.

Now we're talking.
The music from the Sonic Adventure games?
Ehhh....not so much.
It all sounded like some kind of bizarre late-80's Eastern European soft-metal band whose albums have names like "Pleasure is Like a Lightning" or "Fight, Legs and Car Forever."
Except for the Jungle stage in the first Sonic Adventure.
That shit just sounded like Enya.

I hope they make a second Dreamcast Collection. Maybe with ChuChu Rocket, Nights into dreams, and Sonic Adventure 2.

Where's a Saturn collection??
Sega made, like, thirteen Genesis collections, and then moved right on to Dreamcast.
I want Burning Rangers.
I want all three episodes of Shining Force 3, damn it.
In fact, they could just release Panzer Dragoon Saga on PSN/XBLA and save me a couple hundred dollars...

I'm not gonna lie, I loved the song "Live and Learn" from SA2.
When you're facing the last boss as super sonic, it always pumped me up!

The best Sonic soundtrack I've heard was from Sonic R, Sega's much forgotten and criminally underrated answer to Mario Kart on the Saturn. That music was so catchy and, importantly, it showed that the Saturn could compete with the PS1 in terms of transparency and lighting effects - all it needed was the right dev team.
Sigh, I loved Sonic R.

Think of the trees man, THE TREES!!!
and my wallet, I like the idea of buying the 2-4 tracks I want for 99c each, rather than buying a $10 cd + shipping.
If they would just offer games demand on the PS3 sans the retailers cut (i.e. $35 at launch, $15 in a years time) I would never buy another physical disc again.

You usually don't exactly own digital content though like you would with a physical item.

Just to verify that I am not THAT old, Sonic Adventure is not 20 years old, just the original Sonic the Hedgehog. My heart skipped a beat for a sec.

One of my students played me the beginning of "Afterlife" by Avenged Sevenfold and I said "Hey, I know that song, it's from Sonic Adventure." I was obviously wrong, but am I the ONLY one who doesn't think that intro sounds like something from a Sonic Game?
