Another warning to newcomers to this game: Its a good, fun game and everything but I would group it with FF1&2 more than FF4,5,6 in terms of story depth.

I've been playing through this on DS lately... definitely worth the $17, regardless of platform.

They should be bringing this to the PSP so that 1-9 will all be available on one system.

They should bring this to the PSP and do a full high resolution 2D remastered version of FF 5 and FF6...And use the GBA version for 5 & 6 as the basis.

This port is fantastic. It's a complete overhaul of the original NES version, and far superior to the iOS FF1 and FF2.

Included in that overhaul was giving names and backstories to the four main characters. So the names "Ingus" and "Luneth" are actually only as old as the 5-year-old DS port. :)

still can't beat the DS version no matter how huge the screen is

@deepspacebar

You're saying "can't beat" in terms of it being a good game, or an unbeatable one... They put the "Point of No Return" way too far back, making grinding before the Point mind-numbing, and grinding after the Point impossible...

The DS has a calculator screen resolution vs the iPad's 1024x768.

Size does matter.

It's possible to enjoy the pre-iOS version of FF III b/c it arrived for the DS before iOS anyway; at that point in time, there was no other version, hi-res or not, to compare it to so it was all you had. I have both versions b/c I liked it so much, I bought it again when it went on sale and am playing thru it on my iPod. I do appreciate and like the visual sprucing up, I cannot lie friends.

I got it on the psp but I found I didn't enjoy it as much cause of the slow down and small screen. A game like FFT is perfect for the ipad I do not understand why there isn't a bunch of these games on the ipad it confounds me to no end.

Hey, so, uh, while we're on the topic of Final Fantasy games on the iOS, whatever happened to that iPod version of Final Fantasy Tactics, exactly?

Actually the protagonists in FFIII didn't have any names before all that other stuff you started the article with.

Wait so is my iphone version updated to this or do I have to re-buy it for the ipad?

If so, and they expect me to rebuy it, as rare as it is, I'm using installous.

Is that what the text really looks like in the game? If so, does anyone else agree that it just looks wrong? Like it should be the original, blocky, pixelated text style?

Why did I have to ask only questions in this post?
