Portal 2's egg-shaped turrets get their own easter egg
36
Think you've seen all there is to see in the deadly, paneled catacombs of Aperture Science? You might have missed this Portal 2 easter egg: A quartet of hidden-away, musically-oriented turrets, a video of which is posted after the jump. Or maybe you didn't miss it. We're not mind readers, you know.

Had thought I had originally seen this on Joystiq actually and wondered why a repost, then saw the source and realised it was from Bluexephos I'd actually seen it.
Really awesome hidden thing. Reminds of the fake ending posted by Valve a few days before release.
Someone needs to release a mod where can make turrets play any tunes.

I got bad news about that.
That was the real ending.
The person who owned the account was connected to Valve in some way, but was not Valve themselves. The name could have fooled you into thinking it was. Without permission from Valve, they uploaded those videos.
Next day, account was disabled after a copyright claim by Valve.
All the ARG stuff made people think there were false clues everywhere. So everyone assumed those videos were fake, I did, too. They were the real endings. So, it sucks they had that happen to them.

Was this post really necessary? Easter eggs should be found by the player instead of spoiled by gaming sites.

In a way I'm kind of glad I missed that part while playing because then the ending wouldn't have been as amazing if I knew the turrets could do that.

@Senor Whopper - I think I saw Atlas peeking at me a couple of times as well. Not sure on which levels though.

I thought that turret looked a little out of place.

Surprised that there was no achievement for finding this spot.

This game needs a soundtrack to purchase/download/enjoy.

@LaughingTarget - You can enjoy most of the songs on youtube if you know the names. I've been listening to *spoilers incoming don't read past this people wtf are you doing* Exile Vilify for the past couple of days. It's a pretty good song, for just being a throwaway moment that can be missed by the player.

If the player were to turn around you can see they are singing to a lone really fat turret

They never wanted to kill... They just wanted to sing...

When life gave those turrets lemonade, they turned it into an Italian aria.

@BananaBoat - Oh god, I fail. That will teach me to write something before I've woken up.
Let me try that again....

I found this the other day! If you go further into the room, you can see the bigger, fatter white Turret orchestrating them.

Name of the audio is sp_a2_laser_vs_turret_r1.wav in the game files.

I caught it on my second playthrough. The hidden rooms were a bit more well-hidden this time around. I had to really be looking for them. Well done, Valve.
