Probably Not the Wii 2, Part II: Innovation on a conference table

Upon seeing these clear photographs of what appear to be a physical model of the "Project Cafe" console from this "Innovation Reinvented" slide, we could react in two ways. First, the photographs could lend credence to the slide, suggesting that all of this is real and the Wii successor truly has the listed features and design.

Conversely, we could conclude that someone either built or made a convincing 3D model of the device based on that slide, thinking that the hours of labor required would be worth it when someone was maybe kind of fooled. As this is the course of events that would best justify our constant cynicism, it should be no surprise that it's the one toward which we're leaning.

Certainly looks like an SDK to me. I highly doubt Nintendo has the design finalized at this point in time, and this in particular looks fugly compared to the PS3 S. and 360 S.

@KingOfGods Nah, the shape is wrong. The back is flat where as the back on the Windows cases are rounded. That's made out of grey plastic, you'd be able to tell if it was just painted. The texture would be inconsistent and there would be seams from whatever filler they used to make the shape.

Doesn't mean it's real, just means that it isn't a windows box.

On that subject, the banner on Joystiq's front page of four Gamecubes duct-taped together is genius!

I really hope that's not the final design of this project. Not after the sleekness of the Wii and its peripherals.

Considering that it suppose to be powerful, that is way too small of a case. Won't have needed air flow to house a 3-core CUP, etc.

The reflection in the table looks odd to me. It seems sharper and more in focus than the entire picture.

In light of the "stream games to the controller," rumor, the lack of power cord in this picture was explained by not needing a TV period.

Hours? Nah. I could probably whip up the same thing with Inventor in 30 minutes and then put in a generic coffee table backdrop.

No way would Nintendo actually release something with so little...flash. My 3DS is bright metallic blue for crying out loud! You can damn near see the thing glowing through my pocket

I wouldn't hold my breath until the actual launch. Remember how they teased colors when they first unveiled the Wii? Yeah, that didn't go through very well

Almost every new console is shown in multiple colors. The PS2 was shown in multiple colors when it was announced. The GameCube was shown in multiple colors when it was announced. The Wii was no exception.

Only a few of each color ever got released for each system. Remember, there was a blue, black, grey, red, green, yellow, and I think a pink PS2 shown in Japan. Only two of those colors ever came to the US.

Well, if they keep the same distinct shape/style, I can use the Nintendo Wii as a stand or "gaming table" for it, seeing as how I will truly have no use for it once this releases.
I wish I hadn't spent so much on the Wii, so I could sell/trade it off without feeling shafted.

Hopefully, that's not the final design -- I hope that the Wii 2/Wii HD/Nintendo HD/Ninnovation looks like an upright NES or SNES with a disc drive but smaller.

THAT would be amazing.
