Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition coming to Windows in May

So, that "ultimate collection" of Final Fantasy XI you bought two years ago? Turns out it wasn't really ultimate at all, because Square has just announced the new, even more ultimater Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition. So, what do you get for $20? We've got all four expansion packs, all three add-on scenarios and all three of the Abyssea battle areas originally released in 2010.

As if all that weren't enough, the Ultimate Abyssea Edition also includes the in-game Destrier Beret, which packs in loads of bonus effects like increased skill gain, extra movement speed and both magic and health regeneration. The new edition will be available for download beginning May 16. Our sympathies to all of the early adopters who have partaken in Final Fantasy XI over the last nine years because, let's face it, you really got screwed here.

A comprehensive package of all FINAL FANTASY XI content released to date for this acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), this new package will launch globally (North America, Japan, Europe) on May 16, 2011, and will be available for download exclusively for Windows-based PCs from select digital distributors.
Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition will include all four expansion packs for FINAL FANTASY XI, from the premiere expansion, Rise of the Zilart®, to the recently concluded Wings of the Goddess®. I think you are confusing the Amazing Final Fantasy XI (11) to the human waste in a video game box Final Fantasy XIV (14).

When was the last time you played? Because it started getting fun about 3-4 years when around the time of the level sync patch.

I find myself going back to it every now and then, it's a great MMO to play casually with friends or LinkShell members.

Partying takes a great chunk of time, like 2-3 hours minimum for a good run, but it's a very fun 2-3 hours if you play right.

Wow, that's actually an amazing deal. Might as well invest in this over FF14. Just scrap XIIII in general and revert support back to this game.

Should I get this game? I got a free month of WoW and it really kick started my mmo interest

@GroundControl2MT FF11 is REALLY inaccessible for new players.

I tried it several months ago and there was absolutely no open talking going on in the main towns and low level areas, and barely any players around at all. I tried talking to people, even /yelling or whatever the command was, and no one would respond.

Plus, pretty much the first story quest you get seems to require a group or LOTS of low-level monster grinding to do. Since there was no one to group with, it basically seemed like I had to do endless grinding to get anywhere in the game.

Not to mention the extremely slow patching times, the weird menu system, the fact that the only way to fix the graphics is to fiddle around with .ini files and stuff in the programs folder...

Someone, please, go ahead and prove me wrong about how inaccessible this game is for newbies. I wanted to enjoy it.

My friend solo'd most of the first missions/quests on his own at around level 30.

Also, no, you don't need to mess with ".ini files" to adjust the graphics.

You know what I think? I think either A) You have a friend who plays or played briefly and you're passing judgement based on that or B) You played for like a week or so and you're your comment on that, because -everything you just said about the game is 100%, undeniably wrong.-

This can actually bring me back. It would 100% bring me back if they released a PS2 version.

Also if you donate to the Crysta Japanese Release Fund you get a Moogle Hat but instead of a yellow ball on the hat its green. and it's called a Charity Hat. Green > Yellow

So you get a cool hat and you help out japan.

It includes the full game too.

XI was good for it's time. Took forever to really do anything though, and you couldn't solo. Amazing though, that they still release content for this and not the mmo that they just released.

I just came back to the game after years away and I've been soloing everything. The game's really changed, definitely for the better.

One charge items have unlimited uses. Looks like you can use this every hour (not even 24h). The catch seems to be it's restricted to Lv30 and below. Still, I think it will be a great help. Especially for new players and for leveling low level jobs.

Hmmm. Interesting. I had heard about it changing up some, but not that. Good to know. I still actualy have the ultimae collection and the goddess pack that I never got to.
