Social Club features for LA Noire revealed
27
Rockstar has announced both the in-game and web-based online Social Club features that will be integrated into LA Noire. Within the game itself, logging into the Social Club will unlock the Chicago Lightning Suit, which can be worn by protagonist Cole Phelps once he becomes a detective. For some unfathomable reason, the suit improves Phelps' accuracy with shotguns and machine guns -- we guess they just don't make them like they used to.
Players will also be able to "Ask the Community" when Phelps is interviewing witnesses and suspects. When deciding whether or not someone is telling the truth, Phelps can use Ask the Community to see percentages of what other Social Club members chose in the same situation. The feature requires Intuition Points to use, which Rockstar notes are "in short supply." Again, we're not sure where Phelps acquired his magic, time-traveling, internet-connected notepad, but we suggest everyone just roll with it.
Several features are available via the Social Club website, including a 100 percent completion checklist, game statistics and Achievement and Trophy tracking. The site also includes a Case Tracker that allows players to access Phelps' notebook, which contains "virtually everything" that he has jotted down within the game, letting players stay "on the case and connected with [their] investigation" no matter where they are.

Being able to check our notes while not playing the game sounds really awesome. I can just imagine figuring out the final piece of a murderous puzzle in the middle of math class.

That really is an awesome feature. In a way I kind of hope it stretches out the game play a bit in terms of time it takes. If a case really is hard to solve, and it gives me something to think about at the office other than how bored I am, I'm in.

I can't wait for this game!
Gamestop has a decent trade in offer, if you trade in 2 games from a list you can get the game for $10. I'll be trading in The Fight Lights Out and Bulletstorm.
On a side note on the list you can trade in The Force Unleashed Sith Edition and I was wondering why it's on the list since it's an old game and I went to Amazon to see the price and they want $120 for purchase! Why is that game so expensive now?

Amazon isn't selling it. That's the seller's price.

i tried to follow the Social Club with RDR but lost interest quick. To bad i can't record gameplay like the PC version of GTA4 though, that was a good social club feature.

ask the community? eesh idunno that almost make me hope PSN is still down by the time I play this haha.
that seems more like who "want's to be a millionaire" and less like a detective story.

I really like the Ask a Community option... hopefully the majority of people won't be greenhorn gumshoes so that they won't give me a wrong answer...

Agreed the feature sounds really cool.
While I think I might use it, I know for certain I won't be playing with a strategy Guide.
It seems like it'd be much more fun to have to live with my choices if I mess up in a interrogation rather than having it perfect all the way through.
Or does the game like "automatically" fix stuff for you if you're a bad detective.

@Jawmuncher I don't think it'll just patch stuff up if you make the wrong choices too many times. If you can't get a confession or don't notice several pieces of evidence, you're just gonna lose the case and let the bad guy go.

This is a little off-topic, but is the main character of L.A. Noire supposed to look like Ken Cosgrove from Mad Men?

I like it all except the ask the community part. I'll decide how I play, thank you very much.

Giant Bomb might do a Quick Look of the game when it releases.

The feature sounds cute enough in a way but to be honest I won't be using it. This is a single player adventure and being a detective in real life you wouldn't be doing that. But at least Rockstar has given gamers a choice if they so choose.

@Hong Dong If you were a detective in real life and really had trouble on a case, it's not some crazy wild idea that you might go ask some fellow detectives what they thought, or even family and friends? Haven't you seen any tv show where the dashing hero solves the crime in the last ten minutes thanks to some family member making the final clue fall into place with some inane banter about a seemingly unrelated subject? Hell, that's even ignoring the Batcomputer.

I probably won't be using any of the community aid type of features, but it's still a neat integration. Ever since Red Dead Rockstar has really stepped it up as far as the Social Club stuff goes.
But all I really need is the damn game. May 17th can't come soon enough.

Yeah, the clothes thing strikes me as a little odd. Red Dead at least made the special abilities stem from a physical attribute of the outfit itself.

@ARRoobs how exactly did a leather duster coat give you the ability to slow time? t
