The ATVs are alive? While, that's a novel narrative twist on this usually stale sub-genre.

Honestly, I'm sick of companies announcing DLC before the game even out, cause then you know they just took it out of the game and are gonna charge you for it

@The Cole Train The game is trying to go halfway between the Free to Play (microtransaction based) and Full Game spectrum. The only way they can release a full featured game at a budget price it to offer tons of post-purchase purchases. It's perfectly suitable for what the publisher is attempting.
Honestly, I'm all for a budget priced MX vs ATV game. Those games are fun, but I'm not into them enough to spend the money to buy a full priced game. I'm glad THQ are trying things.

Hey! Buy our game so you can... buy all the bits... one piece at a time...
Yay!
I can see paid DLC after launch. I can even see paid DLC on launch day. What I don't like it when there is 20+ dollars of launch day DLC. It is an insult to me as a consumer and it makes me much less likely to buy your product.
I hate this trend.

But do you get that this is a budget title? They knock $20 off the price then offer $20 worth of DLC you have the option of getting if you wanted. It's like complaining you have to pay extra for a huge spoiler on your car. The people who don't want the spoiler aren't going to buy that car if they have to pay for stuff they might not want. At $60 I wouldn't bother with this franchise, but for $40 I might just get it and relive a bit of the fun I had with ATV off-road fury 1 and 2. And if they add in wacky mini-game DLC like that atv hockey rink thing, I might go for it in the future.

I see no backflips on motorcycles here. Kinda wish the series would go back to its roots. Wasted many hours on split screen freemode. As far as this dlc stuff goes, Im curious. What if all racing games take this adaption. So lets say Forza 4, title unknown, comes out. Then to make lasting appeal, they release part packs on xbl. So essentially you could buy new parts further down the road if you want. Would add more value to a game. Now DLC like this on launch day is getting ridiculous. If you have used up all of the disc space thats one thing. If your making up the difference of a game coming out at 40 bucks then this is a sleazy move.

It'll be interesting to see how handicapped the base $40 gamer is. If it is stripped bare then this whole thing is a sham. If it is $40 worth of game then I'm all for this new model where you only buy what you want.

If it works in their favor, they'll keep it going with other titles in the future. If not, whatever. I'm not buying this, but $40 games are OK with me. Just don't force me to buy DLC in order to complete the game. That's all I ask.

Well i think its a good idea that they are selling the game for $39.99, if it wasnt for the low price i probly wouldnt even buy it. Im so tired of buying games for $59.99 and only playing them once. I wish other companys would do this sort of thing more often(especially games that dont have an online community).
