It should've always been free to play!

@psnNukdollars I hope so, the beta was really fun until I knew it was going to shut down. I spent countless hours playing wishing it would be free to play, or at least just purchase the disc.

The reason this is happening is because in the beta they had to little servers and it caused problems. Since it released for retail the had at gone from 2-3 to 6-7 servers. In doing so some servers didn't have enough population due to other servers were more popular. This is just fixing their error of making to many servers.

I enjoyed this game in beta but not enough to fork over $60 plus $15 a month. If it was $40 plus F2P I would be all in. Make it happen Sony.

I know about 6 people that quit playing.

My friend and I quit. Hoping to go back in a year or so when it's all new and there's more to do. As is there isn't much at all and it gets tiresome VERY fast.

@PlagueDoctor357

Did you cap level 30? I heard there's a lot more to do once you reach level cap.

I have this game and enjoyed it. I'm max lvl. But I'm not willing to pay $15 a month for so little content. F2P is what I predict also.

Joystiq really needs to get rid of this guy. There has to be someone that can take his place, like a chimp for example.

I like the game, was playing it faithfully until the outage, but I'm not sure if I'm going to renew. I know they are doing the server merge to alleviate the ridiculously long Q times - but for me it's a little too late. I reached level 30 and found there was a lot of stuff to do but it required getting a better weapon. I couldn't get a better weapon without doing things that required to Queue up with people, which never worked. Others wouldn't want to Queue up with me because I didn't have T1 or better gear, so it was this Catch-22 situation that made the game grind to a halt. Yes I had joined a few leagues to eliminate that exact problem, but the leagues dwindled to nothing or no one was ever on or responded to requests, so that was useless. So I was stuck paying for a game that I couldn't play properly. Maybe this server merge will help. I'll try it for a bit, and may come back when the Green Lantern levels are released (given SOE previous track record, that should be sometime in 2012).

@Milf Biggenson Ah crap the level cap is 30? I'm level 22 almost 23 and I've played the whole thing so far solo. A little stuck now since I now need help.

I feel this game is almost a love AND a hate relationship for me. I like the game-play and I thought it was cool I didn't have to group with anyone for a good majority, yet I'm upset there's not that much content at least stuff I don't have access to. I don't know how full-filled I'd feel if I was able to get into any groups. Am I really missing anything there?

One of my major beefs excluding the population is the fact all your missions are between two cities. Like I know in the comics everything happens there in both of them but I'm pretty sure they could have divided the areas better. Going to point A to point B so easily is just ... eh.

Idk I just ... idk. I'll shut up now and hope more people will solve this empty void I'm feeling with the game lately and keep me dedicated enough to fork $15 next month.

@Hyne Groups are fun because you can try relatively harder stuff for your level and with a mix of classes you can add a bit of group strategy, but doesn't really change the content issue - I really enjoyed the game, but because much of the good/evil content overlaps, after playing on good guy up to level 30, and a bad guy up to the mid-teens, I was starting to get a fair bit or repetition in what I was doing and moved on.

A good game, but it looks like it wasn't really designed to be a long-termer like WoW or LoTRO (which both have much, much more content).

$15per-month for a sub-par console MMO is a crime.

""Super-Servers" sure sounds like a euphemism for "server merge," a sign that the DC Universe Online community is in rapid decline,"

More tabloid-esque stuff - you really are sliding when it comes to quality reporting. Given the structure of DCUO (it takes 20-30 hours to get through most of the content with one character), the game is likely to spike early then settle down afterwards, requiring more servers early, then smaller long-term server support. Ie, this is what you'd expect to happen. It's a parallel to overall game sales. Thanks for the complete lack of insight.

@Axe99

Doesn't matter what the reasons behind it are, or even if it's justified, server merges are server merges.

How's this for lack of insight: I'm a lifetime sub. People are not playing because it's BORING. I seriously doubt they expected this game to be dead within 4 months of release.

@ticklefist Why are you a lifetime sub for a game you find boring? Seems like a curious purchasing decision. I know a lot of people who enjoy the game, so not everyone finds it boring, but MMOs and DCUO are definitely not for everyone.
