Amazon now offering Xbox 360 with free $50 credit and 1600 Microsoft Points

Amazon has, once again, sweetened the pot for purchasers of a new Xbox 360. For a limited time, folks who buy a 4GB or 250GB console (or their respective Kinect bundles) not only get a free $50 credit for future purchases, they also get a complimentary 1600 Microsoft Point card.

actually it's pretty simple. 400 = 5 bucks, and seeing as how 1600/400 = 4, 5 x 4 = $20. easy, yes?

I usually just do the number of points times 1.25.

1600 points x 1.25 = 2000. 2000 pennies, or 20 bucks.

@Liquidfingers I just let the website do all the conversions for me when I buy them so it's not like I memorize it.

i think the easiest way is it's 80 points per dollar.

1600/80 = 20.

simple, as long as everyone knows their multiples of 8 ;p

Price drops usually aren't announced at E3, but you can bet there will be one within 8months my guess.

They're price-comping Toys R Us. I actually just got mine from there a few hours ago, in fact! My original 360 died last year, (I think today may have been the exact day, in fact) and I finally decided to get a new one today. They have some stupid 6-hour period where you can't use the gift card, though, so tomorrow I'm going to go back and buy Forza 3 and probably Rock Band 3. I absolutely cannot wait to get back into Forza, as that is one of my favorite games of all-time and not being able to play it for so long has really saddened me.

On a related note, I used my points card for Splinter Cell Conviction, which is downloading now. Was it a good buy?

i think it was a good buy, if you're looking for a fun action game with some light stealth thrown in the mix. it's not really that similar to past splinter cells, but i still think it's great. one of the best co-op experiences i've ever had.

Check those prices: the Xbox 360 250 GB with Kinect is 399.99, not 299.99 as listed there.

It wouldn't make sense to have it at the same price as the 250 GB console alone, would it?

I wasn't planning on getting a 360 but sold on the 250GB model, without Kinect of course.

Yay I just got a slim console! Thanks joystiq for letting me know and also thank you amazon for being the Walmart of the internet. (This way I don't have to be in a crowd or look at people... ah the little joys of life as a true gamer)

It's official.

Anyone who buys a 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect or a 250GB standalone model (rather than a 250GB model with Kinect) from Amazon needs a whack on the head from the sensor itself.

Okay, I'm the one who needs a whack on the head.
