Cool model, but you would have to be a total geek to have it on your desk. OK, maybe on your desk at home, but not at work.

@Klearwater Killer I have a giant-sized D20, a cyborg skull and a boba fett bobblehead on my desk at work. I don't think anyone would be shocked.

So long as it isn't some anime loli panty ridden low cleavage model you'll be fine these days :D

....However.... those lines are a little too deep/thick/black for my liking =/

@Gibbeynator Well, the one from ME2 was the SR1, so I'm betting you're right.

@evilgeneral4 Uh, what? The SR1 only made an appearance for the first 15 minutes of Mass Effect 2. The rest of the game featured the Cerberus-built SR2.

This is the recolored Alliance version for the third Mass Effect game. Steam has pictures and some words about it on their website. This is what we'll be flying around in in the third game.

Or more likely, Shepard took her new toy and went home to the alliance.

I'd prefer the Normandy SR1, but that's just me. I thought it was a better-looking ship. Also, this may be the "new" Normandy in Mass Effect 3. The colors and paint scheme are different, and it says SR2 on one of the inner engine strut and not the hull like it did in Mass Effect 2.

@captcarl Also, note the Systems Alliance insignia in front of the SR2. This must be the model being used in ME3

Well, they probably needed to get a new paint job now that they're not affiliated with Cerberus anymore.

@captcarl Yeah, I would give up my first born for a good model of the SR1. I don't like all the vertical lines on this model... it must be what is planned for ME3. Oh well, *goes to checkout*

@captcarl Heard the Alliance takes this ship as theirs given it's based on their ship. They strip it down learn what they can and rebuild it.

Basically Bioware's reboot so they can move stuff around on the inside (probably on dev and fan rethinking of the ship) for ME3. Always felt Engineering and Medbay should be as central as possible for one.

Scale model? YES!

Model you have to put together? NO!

I will never be able to build it to look that good.

@Drakkenfyre Give me a model that's pre-built and twice the size. Normandy deserves a bigger model.

Going by the look and the price, I'm assuming this is a model made out of some kind of plastic. Not necessarily a bad thing, I'm just trying to figure out if I want a plastic ship model on my desk at work. Die cast probably wouldn't even be a question.

Also, does anyone know what the actual dimensions of the ship are? My desk space isn't limited, but this would need to be displayed properly...possibly in some sort of simulated flight hanging from the ceiling tiles.

I saw in the post it says 6 1/4" scale, but what about the height with the stand and the width?

@Drakkenfyre not to nit-pick, but 6-1/4 inches (hey, that 1/4 inch makes a difference - just ask my wife! http://sadtrombone.com)

ANYwho ... I could see this being die-cast metal at that size and at that price, but I can't seem to find any clarification on their website.

@rbtroj

If it's metal, I would expect it to be a little more shiny/glossy. The website has a different picture, but it still looked like plastic to me. I'd also second guess that stand due to the extra weight if metal.

I was quoting from the site, I thought it said 6 and a half inches long.

From that price point I thought it was an unassembled model, but from the site, it doesn't say it is.

I'm kind of sad that it is so small. It'll look dinky next to my model of the Swordfish II. I wonder if I could swap it onto a better base.

This would make an awesome limited edition item. Do want either way, but still.
