Rage gameplay footage features murderous bots, volatile vehicles

Sure, you'll be doing a lot of shooting in id Software's Rage, but did you know that you'll also be piloting an explosive RC car, or sending out a spider-like robot to eliminate enemies? See those gadgets in action in the new trailer after the break.

Yet another game I wait in anticipation for!
side note: I would find it funny if the video player said I was a liar after I put in my date of birth as 11/10/1912

Same here. So far it's just been something nice to look at, finally looking forward to playing it.

This video has made me want it less. Stupid regenerating health! :( Takes so much of the fun out of it.

The graphical style feels similar to Doom 3 in many ways (you know, without the darkness enveloping 75% of the screen). Definitely looks like an id game, then.
To be honest, this is the first time i've been excited for RAGE in over a year.

So it looks like Borderlands and Fallout mixed together, minus the fun of Borderland's four player co op

I agree, as I was watching the vid I was thinking that it looks like it plays like Borderlands but with more realistic graphics. what was great about Borderlands though (aside from the 4 player co-op) was the charm of the cel-shaded graphics, the scale of the game, the odd sense of humour, and the addictive nature of finding/collecting/buying/selling the randomly generated weapons. I'm not sure if anything else will come close to it (until Borderlands 2), but having said that this does look close enough to be fun.

@Ozzpot Borderlands is still my favorite game of all time. I am currently playing through for the 5th time now just for the hell of it. I wonder how linear this game will be with PRG elements will it still work in an open world environment like Fallout?

@SFX BIGANT Totally agree, and I really wonder why id is putting out these videos now. If you're releasing a game in a few months which looks very derivative of Borderlands and Fallout 3, I don't think you want to advertise it ahead of time. If you are going to show off your game, I think you try to show something _different_, which isn't this.
In the end, I'm glad that Rage's earlier release window forced Gearbox to change their game. Had they played it serious and dark, Borderlands wouldn't have been as fun for me as it turned out to be.

@AtomicPlayboy not sure if most people know this but originally Borderlands did look like this! At one point the game had a more serious and realistic look to it before they changed it to the cartoony look and honestly i dont think it would have been nearly as fun if they hadnt changed it!

Still has the "Quake" sound... where it sounds like everyone is talking into a paper-towel roll.
Looks ok but didn't give the awesome-shivers or anything.

The lack of RPG elements in this game has really neutered my excitement for it. I don't know why the He'll ID would think that would be a good thing.

Because they make shooters, not RPGs. This is a game by the people who made Quaker and Doom, not Fallout 4.

I'm aware. My point was this is a first person shooter, not the next installment of the Fallout series.
Oh, and Quaker was a typo. I meant Quake.

... I don't like it.
all the "feel" of a PC run and gun is gone, this video seems to have been made with the PC version but that just makes me even sadder thanks to the jerky aiming, poor strafing, and AI that makes sure to stand real still so you've got no problem shooting them thanks to the first two issues.
anyone else notice that while the "interact" icon may have said "E" it still looked quite a bit like a Xbox 360 shoulder button? while that may count as a massive improvement over most other console ports it's still sad to see the gods of PC gaming reduced to this.
I give Carmac two years before he throws in the towel and retires to work on his space shuttle project.

I decided I was going to buy this game the moment that guy kicked the turret and then was blasted by that delicious shotgun. Wow the physics in this game are beautiful!! Along with the graphics of course, cant wait! :)

Yeah, like some stated above I wasn't really excited about this game up until now.
This footage is pretty nice. Probably it won't be a groundbreaking game, like, say, LA Noire is shaping up to be, but it will be fun.

reminds me of Borderlands (that's a good thing, btw). Also, is the guy in the beginning voiced by the guy from Crackdown? (the one who always calls you "agent"... I forget his name).

I thought this was a pretty poor trailer for a game I can't wait for to be honest.
I never usually complain about the people playing in trailers, but man. He ran out way to much and hardly used iron sights. For a game trying to be realistic enough for you to believe the world it's set in you would have thought he would act like it was real. If it didn't have developers unlimited health he would have probably have died several times.
Game looks ace though, the dark city trailer is amazing. Can't wait!

I'm waiting to see what this brings to the table that is "new."
FPS has been done. To death. Is this just another Halo or CoD?
For an FPS to really catch my attention, it needs to have something "different." Like the plasmids and narrative elements of Bioshock, or the leveling and class system of Borderlands. Making "Doom but in a desert" is just more of the same, and I just don't care enough anymore to spend my time on that.
