I only played the first Mega Man Legends on PSone and it was phenomenal! (Well, imo...) I don't know why it's not but I wish Sony would put MML and MML2 in the PSone Classics section of the PS Store...well, if PSN were up. It'd be wicked to play MML1 on my PSP.

Seems as if Capcom has something against the original Blue Bomber... To my knowledge, the last handheld game featuring Rockman was Dr. Wily's Revenge for the ORIGINAL Game Boy. Everything else has been MMX, Battle Network, Star Force, blahblahblah.

I've given up waiting for a handheld game featuring the original Mega Man and MML3 seems close enough to the PSone originals for me. Plus it looks amazing on the screenshots. MM Legends is about the only thing that comes close to the original Rockman, well, in three-dimensional environments instead of 2D ones. Nothing against Model-X, I just love Rockman.

My understanding is that this Barrett dude is only the main character in the Prototype, while the full release (which still seems to be in limbo) will focus on Megaman Volnutt from the first two games.

I'm not sure if you were implying otherwise, but the Rockman/Mega Man in this series is a different character from the one in the original series...

MMU? ...disappointed to say the least. But with Inafune gone, I guess it was to be expected somewhat. However, I read somewhere that the "quality" of the game was not on par with the original concept. Still, I can't really quantify what was meant by "quality;" Capcom could've just used that as marketing jargon as an excuse not to do the game anymore.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Even though MM in Legends is MM Volnutt, he's still similar on a visual level that most people don't know including myself. I didn't know the protagonist in MML was named Volnutt until like a couple years ago. I always thought he was a (at the time) modernized Rockman for the PSone. That being said, it's not a useless fact: sure there's still some who don't realize that. ;0)

@C1ph3rDivyne Probably something to do with licensing issues, but I agree that that'd be nice.

A bit like how it'e be nice to see Earthbound resurface, and this time, come outside of Japan and North America. However, that too has many complex licensing and rights issues, or so I've heard.

Which reminds me: Nintendo, put Mother 3 on the 3DS eShop OR ELSE. It's already been translated brilliantly.

Although come to think of it, Barrett would be an awesome cameo. Sure, it's not capcom, but they but have arm cannons, and are friends with a sword wielding hero and a red canine.
