Hmm... was a little more excited when it was downloadable.

Expectations sky rocket when it's a full retail game because then publishers are competing against my Gears, Batman, Deus Ex needs.

It does look awesome, though.

@Truant

Yeah, exactly. $10-15 = very excited; $30-60 = very hesitant. It's weird, since Ubisoft just published an excellent 2D platformer (Outland) for a very attractive price of 10 bucks.

@Frozen Radiator

Have fun playing what looks to be an awesome game.

I've been waiting to play a new 2D Rayman since Rayman 2 came out and they took out punching. Not saying R2 was bad (it's phenomenal), but as a huge fan of the first, it was a huge departure.

@bigwhiteyeti I don't have a system to play it on. I used to own a PS3 but I got rid of it because all it did was collect dust.

Unless they bring it to PC so I my two GTX 550s and 16gb of RAM can get some love, then I am out of luck.

At least I'll have Battlefield 3 at max.

So that's what's missing from Rayman 3DS! I knew it wasn't like the other Rayman games I've seen.

Does Rayman 2/3DS improve as get along, or am I just approaching it with too much expectation of a Mario platform style game?

@mrmobius

Rayman 2 is easily the best of the 3D ones, but it's really its own beast. You can't really treat it like anything else. I can't speak for the 3DS one, but if it's anything like the Dreamcast one it holds up pretty well.

Not only that, but just imagine how good that hand drawn animation will look with AUTO TESSELLATING DISPLACEMENT VOXEL TECHNOLOGY (tm).

It better be either inexpensive, or have a LOT of content to warrent a full price retail game.

$50-$60 and no mention of more content beyond co-op?

@KungFuChaosNinja

Well, you're assuming it'll be a full-priced release.

Hopefully, "retail" doesn't necessarily translate to "full-price."

I would hope Ubisoft would have the foresight to realize the hurdles in realizing a hand-drawn 2-D game...on the HD consoles...during the frenzied Holiday season...and price Rayman: Origins appropriately.

If the average game-buying consumer has to make a choice between whether or not to spend fifty dollars on Gears & War 3, Uncharted 3, The Elder Scrolls V, Batman Arkham Asylum and Rayman: Origins, I can't say for sure which one they'd buy.

Though I have a feeling I know which one they wouldn't buy. Not at sixty dollars, anyway.

I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced. I had planned on downloading it on day one. Now that it's going to be yet another title in the Holiday 2011 onslaught?

Let's just say I have priorities.

Know your market, Ubisoft. Price accordingly

I'm ok with paying $50. Takes a lot of work to draw everything and what not. $60 is too much for me though.

I bet it will be god awful. The only people making acceptable 2D updates of old games are people working with Nintendo. I have no doubt this will suck as much as Sonic 4 did.

I hope I'm wrong thought because Rayman 1 was/IS one of the best games of yesteryear. I cannot praise that game enough. When I met some of the team some years ago, they were amazed that people still loved their "little game".

I'm still very disappointed they made a 2d platformer. There are so few 3d platformers around now.

thank god they decided to go ahead and flesh out an entire game and give it to us as a proper, full-length retail release. i will thank Ubisoft by buying this on release day.

Okay, great, now where is Rayman 4? I mean, we were kinda told it was coming, and that was years ago in Rayman 3. I guess they decided that all their shovelware was more important.

I'm still going to check this out, although I prefer Rayman in 3D.

By the way, if there are Rabbids in there, even as a cameos, they game will suck. Just because the Rabbids make everything suck one hundred times more. Which is a shame, because they're also funny.

The first time I played Rayman was on my N-Gage. It was absolutely amazing! After that, the 3D titles coming out just didn't seem right...

This- 2D- im absolutely looking forward to.

Are the platforms still restricted to X360 & PS3?

I figured it wasn't coming to Wiiware because of the 40MB limit.

..Even better, 3DS launch..

I can dream. Absolutely loved the original rayman on psx
