"With a controller, Child of Eden is a video game."

Cool. I like video games.

@Ezio Auditore da Firenze but you wanna be immersed in something to be more than just a video game. You wanna go DEEP, penetrate the mind to go further into the vortex of the imagination to fulfill the very thing that makes fantasy feel very reality.

And he misses the point.

Very cool preview. This game seems made for alternative control devices to immerse you more fully into the experience. Wouldn't expect anything different from the creator of Rez.

I don't know how much deep fantasy penetration should be going on in anyone's living room.

It's obvious that the optimal experience is on Kinect. It seemed like your comment was just a shot at Kinect, maybe I'm just misinterpreting.

If a game can't become more than a video game and immerse because of the controller than there is something wrong with the game.

So, Rock Band sucks because it's not very immersive when you play with a regular controller?

@Co

I'm 99% sure I'd be just as uninterested in it as I am now.

If preferring to come home after a long day and stretch out on the couch with a controller in my hands, instead of wanting to wave them around, makes me a villain. I'll happily draw a curly mustache on my face and cackle with evil intentions.

I'm just pleased we're finally receiving confirmation that this is a video game. I was worried there for a moment, even if the sentiment is, "Oh man, Child of Eden is JUST a video game if I don't spend an extra $150 to play it. Woe is me."

I don't know what the implication is here, but I don't think I like it. It might not be a game because... it's like Rez? It's made with motion control in mind? It works with Kinect? It's sorta abstract?

It's obvious that the point here is that with a standard controller Child of Eden is just a standard video game while using Kinect is an entirely different(and better) experience that is worth playing with.

Although, I'm pretty sure you understand that, and as I originally stated, you're just being an ass.

I'm going to assume he means that it's a game and not a gimmicky tech demo, so that's nice to know that deep down there's still a game there somewhere, under the novelty of flailing your arms around.

I don't know if it's his point, but I'm making it mine: A core game experience should still be acceptable regardless of the controller input method. If using a pad is still fun, then that means the core game is genuinely fun and you're not simply blinded by the novelty of using the Kinect.

Hell, I was blinded by the novelty of just moving around the dashboard with the Kinect, but I got over it once I was familiar with it. Same with Kinect Adventures, it was fun to jump around like a tosser, but I got past the novelty and now it's gathering dust.

Dance Central on the other hand, you could replace with buttons and stick motions on the controller and I reckon it'd still be fun. So... yeah, long winded story short, it's nice to know Child of Eden still plays well and is fun with a pad.

I like how you got that Rock Band sucks from that comment, actually I would like for you to point out where I said any game sucks from my comment? Can't? That's because I never said a game sucks because of it, it just lacks some immersion that stops it from being "more than a videogame". And on your Rock band comment I'm sure other people out there had no problem being immersed with parappa the rapper, gitaroo man, bust-a-groove, frequency/amplitude, and all those other rhythm games before plastic instruments caught on.

Why would one have to flail to play Kinect? Qui-Gon Jinn would not flail, Neo would not flail. I am glad that a controller will be an option, but I also own a Kinect so no matter what it's awesome!

For a game developed by Ubisoft, I am sure glad Microsoft decided to allow this game to be played with a controller too.

I'm pretty sure she pops up like that only in the commercial.

Like Rez, the main premise of the game is built around the idea of hacking and viruses, and you're trying to save/protect an archive of human memories visually represented by the girl. Yea it's still weird but there's your answer.

@Mouthsmasher Ubisoft is the publisher, not the developer. Q-Entertainment is the dev and it's a Japanese company founded by Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

I really wish people could figure out the difference between those two and at least do a bare minimum of research with Google before running off at the mouth trying to make someone else look stupid.

@Shockwave Funny story, I own 2 Move wands and currently buy most of my multiplatform's for PS3 but I still have a lot of love for my 360 and Kinect. The experience Justin sold me on was the whole not using the controller part. I thought it would be lousy but from his descriptions and the information presented in the article and video, I feel pretty compelled to give my Dance Central machine a shot.
