Though Sonic's new outing Sonic Generations may still be a ways off, it looks like we may get an early double dose of hedgehog. Sega is planning to release a demo of the game, according to Australia's Classification Board, which recently awarded the demo a family-friendly G rating.
It would seem like good news for Sonic fans, though it's unusual for most game rating organizations to assign a rating to an individual demo. Ratings are usually reserved only for individual retail products. One possible implication is that the demo could (could, mind you) be a paid product of some sort, or perhaps bundled with an upcoming Sega game.

Looks pretty promising, looking forward to Sonic's new game.

I don't understand why Sonic 4 gets so much hate. Sonic doesn't do much for me anymore, I'm even of the rare breed that hated Adventure, but I thought Sonic 4 was a competent game. Not bad, just not all that good. I'll buy the second episode if it's ever made, and this too looks pretty good - at least the chubby sonic levels do at any rate.

Because it was bad. The furries/new Sonic fanbase loved it. Nobody else did. It's like they hired a 15 year old 3D artist from Germany to do the art, and then got a team of people who never played a Sonic game to create the game itself.
It was poor from start to finish. Hopefully it's dead and we can all move onto this.

Nope. It was horrid. Only a few people enjoyed it, a very vocal few.
It was just god awful and thankfully people now realise that.

@WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot And I was just about to write "in before the first person whining about how bad previous Sonic games were". Thanks for ruining that. But I have a backup plan:
In before the first person claiming that Sonic is dead or that Sega should let him die.
PS: Sonic 4 was/is a cheap DLC title made by DIMPS. Sonic Generation is a big anniversary game made by Sega themselves...

Sonic 4 was an epic disaster wasn't it? It looked hideous and played worse. So far this looks outstanding and the gameplay looks good too. My hope is regained, for the last time.

Sega, Sonic Team, do me a favor. Make another Chao Garden... I loved those as an escape from the main gameplay.

lol, christ, internets sure love their hyperbole. It's either gotta be the greatest thing on earth or it's an "epic disaster". =\
Sonic 4 was a decent game. There's flaws to bitch about, sure, but jeez, it was playable and had its moments. I beat it twice and doubt I'll ever pick it up again, but I didn't regret playing it. It's worth the 10 or 15 bucks I spent on it anyway.

Whao, talk about Sony Appreciation Night! I've never heard such love for a bad game (Sonic 4) and so many people upvoting those who like bad games! Very weird situation to be in. I guess, like the animals they admire so, furries hunt in packs.

Nope. It was just a terrible example of how to take a retro, 2D series and busturdise (SP to avoid the filter) it for modern audiences.
I believe Castlevania also did the same thing. The original PS1, GBA and DS ones were amazing. So they threw them all into that god awful XBLA game that completely lacked the feel of the originals.
It just goes to show that even £million development projects can go wrong and people (usually the underclass) still lap it up. I'm surprised they can reach out of their FIFA and COD bubble to comment on these games, though.

I just didn't feel that much for Sonic 4 Ep1. Didn't really fit the description of "nostalgia" for me. Whenever they start talking about Episode 2, I'll keep an eye on that.
Now, the classic Sonic deal has me interested, and the trailer was beautiful -- until "Modern Sonic" showed up. Just something about the modern Sonic doesn't get me feeling like I feel for classic Sonic, as his style of gameplay has been just decent to sub par. After what the past games hae been, I hope I won't regret hyping it.

To be fair, demos are usually rated when the actual product is rated. This just means that the demo might have some demo-specific features or levels.
