CG character animator Althea Suarez Gata spent exactly one month at Halon Entertainment, a "previsualization and technology company" whose credits include the Halo: Reach "Deliver Hope" live-action short and a bunch of big-budget Hollywood stuff. In April 2011, just last month, she worked on "Untitled Alien Project" and ... what's this? A video game project titled "Alan Wake 2." Gata's duties are listed simply as "In-Game Cinematic" so it's hard to glean much beyond the whole it's Alan Wake 2 part.
The first and last time we caught wind of a sequel to our number three game of 2010 was when Remedy's head of franchise development Oskari Häkkinen said, "We definitely want to do it. We have great ideas for it. I can see [writer Mikko Rautalahti] here twiddling his thumbs with his ideas for Alan Wake 2." For awhile, that faint glimmer of sequel light in the poor sales darkness was enough to sustain us but only now, with the taste of this latest morsel, do we realize how starved we've been. We've reached out to Remedy for a comment on the listing and also just to check in on how Alan's been doing.

@Demaar Alan Wake is a great game with a menacing atmosphere and haunting soundtrack. Every time I hear Roy Orbison's, "In Dreams" I think of that amazing game. More Wake now!

I really liked the first one. It'll be cool to see what they do with another one.

Alan Wake was the reason I bought my 360. It's a game everyone should try to play. I just hope the sequel is not all downloadable episodes as Remedy stated awhile back is what they hope to do.

@daevv I bought Alan Wake day one (preorder, even) and unfortunately i still haven't even taken the plastic off of it. It came out the same day as Red Dead Redemption, which I also purchased, and I was more excited about that one. By the time I finished RDD a friend had finally talked me into trying the Mass Effect 2 demo because I was refusing to play the series. With good reason I suppose, as I spent the next 3 months playing only ME 1&2. So until now I forgot that I even bought Alan Wake...

@xkaosu9x It's good, but not great.. far too many enemy wells.. there's the crappy combat dodge, which you need to get used to (needs to be the last moment, but a tiny bit earlier, or they'll hit you reguardless), combat is probably the weakest area of the game, but them Alan Wake is no bald space marine... yet they released 2 DLC's with tougher combat :S For the time it took, the combat should of been much better

I agree that the combat was hard to get used to, but once you catch on, it's pretty tight. Not only that, but the combat style will get your heart racing for sure. I finished the game on all difficulty modes, and there is nothing like the rush of dodging an axe at the last second forcing the enemy to stumble into the light, disintegrating into a clap of smoke. I found myself even going back into spots, egging the baddies on to follow me into the traps that are spread across the levels.
That being said, don't let the frustration of trying to figure out the timing turn you off.. you might need a little patience....

This will be a day one purchase for me, and the best edition they offer too! I hope its like a book again so it will look nice next to the other CE..Alan Wake was easily one of my favorite games from last year..they did a great job. the DLC was really fun too.

Please...PLEASE!!! I want this game now, but at the same time I want them to take their time and get it right...just not 6 years this time! :-)

Looking forward to it. There simply isn't enough self-aware pastiche in gaming, and Remedy is one of the kings.

Oh. Hell. Yes. Please, Remedy, let this be true.
We need more Alan Wake!
And I agree, please let it be retail, not downloadable. I need my Alan Wake collection sitting neatly on my shelf.

I would be interested to see where they take this. I really enjoyed the narrative and game play of the first one but the DLC ended up being very underwhelming for me. Hope this bears some fruit.

I wanna know who these people are that scour all the random people's career sites connected to various games to look for an unannounced title.

In fairness, the artist's resume was just lying around on the ground, waiting to be collected. Much like the pages of Alan's manuscript.

If a second AW is in production, I hope it will find its way to the PC as well. The first one too. Pretty please with a cherry on top.

@ORTHROK I personally didn't think the first one was "terrible", however it failed to reel me in. I played through roughly 1/3 or 2/5 of it and just lost interest. I'm curious about what was going on but just not that curious. I will pick it up again and finish it, but just not sure when... because while the adult in me appreciates the story and gameplay, the little kid in me sees Duke Nukem right around the corner.

Or perhaps you just prefer horrible games over good ones like Alan Wake? That seems to be the case.

shine light on thing and then shoot it, not repetitive and dull at all, and when not doing that enjoy the incredibly lame cheesy story full of fetishism for hack author stephen king. we sure do need a sequel to this!! i love collecting canteens

I feel bad for having this game in my pill of "backlog" along with Bioshock 2, Deadpsace 2, Fallout new vegas, Brutal Legends, etc... One day, I shall have time to play it, hopefully before Alan wakes 2 comes out...

I enjoyed Alan Wake. There was a lot to like about it, but I feel the story could use some tightening. The whole light/dark thing is pretty cliche. Either way, I had a lot of fun with it and I am excited for a sequel.

I had resigned myself to thinking this was destined to be another Eternal Darkness, fantastic game that is cheated out of a sequal due to unfairly poor sales. Can't wait for E3 for a hopefull confirmation!

Please, Please, Please, Let this happen. Alan Wake was my biggest surprise last year, I knew next to nothing about the game and came out absolutely loving the game.
