I'm excited and scared for this game at the same time. Please don't be a flop.

@TheHungryPanda Yep that's literally exactly how I feel. I've been following the game for almost a year now and ended up canceling my pre-order because I'm really not sure anymore.

You haven't played Enemy Territory... by the looks of it, it plays a lot like it.
If it does, this will be a awesome game, specially if you are the kind of person who likes doing his own thing on the side...
But for me, the storyline is very important... more so then the online... if the storyline gets me pumped to play one or the other side, then i'll be playing for a long long time...
i remember the days of tiberian sun... man nod pumped me up so much...

No one is more excited for this game than me.
With that said, I think if you're looking for a story, you'll likely be disappointed. ET, sadly, has never been about a story (or a terribly involving one, anyway). Fantastic to play, but the gameplay has to be your motivation. Not the story.
With that said, this trailer depicted more of a story than I ever expected... but I'm afraid the story goes as deep as what you saw in this trailer.
Of course, I'd be THRILLED to be proven wrong.

Finally some gameplay that looks as good as the game sounds. That plus footage of those who have pirated (shame on them) has me sold. Even if the lasting value ends up not being there, it will be a good new FPS experience to enjoy.

As a long standing fan of Splash Damage and enemy territory (I think the formula is fantastic-- superior that of TF2 IMO), I'm concerned for the game as well.
The CODs and BFs have won the hearts of a vast majority of the FPS players, and most that still play TF2 have a long-standing love for the series and aren't likely to leave it for a similar game.
I hope there's enough of us out there to build a community for the game... especially now that it's split between 3 different platforms.
Part of me wants Brink to steal the audience from COD and BF... and part of me wants those ass-hats to stay the hell away from what I believe would be a better community without them.
I'm just afraid that what we're left with is too few people to create a sustainable community.
I hope I'm wrong.

That's some dream. Like some sort of Utopian community. Maybe we could round all of those that feel the same and start a community. Maybe even a self-sustaining city of the future. We could call it, the "Ark" and, er, wait. . .

Whoa there turbo. I played the bejesus out of TF2 (somewhere around 300 hours), and still play BC2 (it's a fantastic game, and there are great communities, at least on PC).
So, please, don't lump all gamers into the "Spastic, Racist, Homophobic screamers" from Xbox live or whatever.
Thanks.

I didn't mean to imply that all BF/HALO/COD players are "Spastic, Racist, Homophobic screamers". But I THINK (ie, I don't have data to support it) it's safe to say a majority of the players of these communities (BF to a much lesser extent, I will admit) are those types of players.
Also notice I didn't include the TF community in the same category. I merely said they're less likely to leave for a similar game. Most people still playing TF play it because they love the gameplay and the community, something Brink either offers similarly or doesn't have at all yet.
No, anyone that will play an objective, attack/defend, class-based shooter correctly, without complaint or asshattery, are generally the kinds of folks I'm hoping find shelter in the Brink community.
I was speaking quite generically when I spoke of the other communities, almost in a "you know when you're the exception" kind of way.
I have faith in the gaming community that you know whether you're an ass-hat or not, and again, I was essentially not including those in my comments. (I am, however, quite aware how badly I conveyed this sentiment in my first comment. Please forgive.)

To go along with my prior comment-
I'll also add that while I did play COD4 and CODMW quite a bit with my friends on X360 (until both communities fell to the JBODers and cheaters), I never considered myself a part of their community. I didn't (in ANY form) participate in the common douchbaggeries found there, and when they became more common than actually playing the game correctly, I promptly left.
I will always associate myself with the ET community because (at least for the first few years it was out) it was comprised of fantastic people who came to seriously play a team, objective based shooter.
While this shouldn't be a rare phenomenon, it continues to be so. I'm just hoping upon hope, that Brink will buck the trend.

I want to like this game, but I think that I generally don't care. I have so many games to play at this point, that why would I even need another 30+ hour game in the mix?

People, do not be afraid. There has been some legit gameplay leaked over the past few days, but Bethesda keep requesting to remove them from Youtube; luckily, some guys over at Reddit downloaded the videos and put them on MultiUpload: http://www.multiupload.com/3Z1UOVZSTW
From what this video shows me, it looks great. Smooth, balanced, in-depth.

piece of garbage online only game, boring fps. character customization not as robust as theyd have you believe, you can only pick from a couple of "archetype" faces, the singleplayer "campaign" is just playing against bots
the art style is good and thats all it has going for it, if youre a moron who loves boring hollow fpses i guess youll like this

It looks like this will become my console's Team Fortress 2 replacement. I've finally given up on seeing the update for the xbox 360 version that we were promised.

Okay Splash-Damage you win! I pre-ordered as soon as I finished watching that trailer. This game has been interesting for me since the initial announcement and that gameplay trailer sealed it. Hope it's good, hope it's got a great play base and decent support from the devs. I have hope since Wolf: ET was such a great game.

Man I can't wait for reviews for this to come out. Like most (it seems) others I've lost a lot of interest in this over time and am really relying on reviews to get a clearer picture.
I'd also be really curious about a case study on this games marketing and how it led to so many people going from being extremely excited to being just an onlooking possible purchaser. I have some thoughts on it (too much to type up) but idk, something unique happened with this games hype that's really intriguing to me.

I agree with most, this game is too cartoony and unique looking. It needs more guys in space suits, or modern day military commandos!

The chase @ 1:45 is exactly the concept that originally got me excited about what they were doing with their "smart"/parcore system around a year ago. Glad to see stuff like a well timed wall jump/ slide can actually work well in gaining an advantage vs someone just using basic movement. There's likely going to be a limited community with this, but I think putting the time in will end up being pretty rewarding.

Alright, so I have been following this game like a hawk watching a playboy bunny (get it? Get i-ah, never mind), and I have to say that every update, like most here I imagine, has both gotten me more excited and more worried. With all the games coming out, and my personal economic state, dropping even 50 dollars on a game is a big investment.
So there I sat, rubbing my lucky rabbit's foot as I clicked on the Steam store purchase button, hoping my money will be well spent. If not I will crawl desperately into the soothing embrace of BF:BC2 until the next game comes around to break my heart. I think I may have a problem >_>
