WRC get a game released in America?!

This is the first I've heard of it..

It's a shame that the Motorstorm guys aren't doing them anymore. Their PS2 WRC games were fantastic.

as far as i can tell it's only being released on ps3 in north america but it appears to be the same game released to europe last fall. amazon is the only one to have had the correct release date and cover art on it.

the gripes people had with the euro version were slightly outdated environmental graphics and long load times with a bit of frustration with menus, but supposedly once you get driving, the experience is really good. reports are the driving model and physics pretty good which is the important bit anyway.

better for them to get this out in front of dirt3 instead of behind it but either way it'll be great to have so many new miles of rally stages to run.

Thanks for the info. I'm kinda of on the fence now that I read up on it. I'm a little baffled they even released it here, to be honest. The game looks crazy outdated, and with the new season underway, all of the cars are COMPLETELY different than their 2011 counterparts.

Still, I kinda want to buy it, just to support the idea of WRC games in America (I felt the same way about F1 2010). I love the Dirt series but I would still prefer a straight up rally game without all of the superfluous events.

i feel exactly the same way. i bought the f1 game too, but also to make sure codemasters stayed fed. as for the wrc game, amazon has it for forty bones so not a full price, which in the end i deemed a small price to pay to encourage the growth of rally and rally games here in the states.

think of the alternative: had dirt 3 taken another step like they did from dirt to dirt 2, then what rally game would you have to play? luckily that appears not to be the case but you know what i mean.
if we, rally fans, don't buy rally games, we'll lose the chance.

I guess I'll be playing through Portal 2's solo campaign for a 3rd time, and probably a 4th!

At least LA Noire is out next week, if this outage continues...

Yup, did that on my 2nd playthrough this weekend. I think my 3rd will be spent trying tricks, and searching for secrets & easter eggs; and if I still have time for a 4th, I'll try to speed-run through it!

Could be worse, at least there's no major games with release DLC or any great indie games coming out.

I think we got lucky, let's hope we see it up soon.

why are people so exited over Brink. I'm sorry but that games looks VERY VERY mediocre with the overly obvious FPS gimmick that needs to be tacked on to make it "not-a-COD-clone"

@PR0F3TA Splash Damage has a pretty awesome track record. It may turn out to be a stinker, but I'm just happy that a developer has the intent to create a unique vision of what a FPS can be. Teamwork can work on a console and Brink could prove that.

Can't deny this community's unquenchable desire to shoot each other, I guess.

Yeah, it looks entirely unremarkable to me as well.

Looks more like a TF2 clone to me, at least from the trailers I've seen. Either way, I'll be playing too much Gears 3 Beta this week to care.

@PR0F3TA I'd say pretty much EVERYTHING except the fact that you shoot a gun from a first-person perspective makes it "not-a-COD-clone."

And yeah, Splash Damage rocks. ET:QW was a blast.

i don't know how anyone can claim Brink is a clone of anything. it definitively takes some inspirations from other games but thats to be expected for any game of any genre. looks like one of the more original games i've seen in a while. i'll probably rent it first but if its as good as it looks i will probably buy it.

Anything that is stylized graphics, has classes, and is a shooter is now a TF2 clone. God, when did TF2 become the Halo of class based shooters?

@beefbearsupreme Bad Company 2 proved that teamwork on a console can work. I'm really hoping Brink can continue the trend of excellent, team-based multiplayer FPS.

Brink!!!!! Which I can't play till I get home =( on Sunday. My summer semester also starts the following day and the Witcher 2 is released the day after that.

But I'll still be playing Brink. Love the teamwork ascepts of it and I favor that over the over-generic one man army, no communication or teamwork, "that was my kill", killstreats aspects of other FPS.

Not much of nothing for me this week. I'm still debating whether or not to get LA Noir next week. If the game is longer than 15 hours, then I think I'll break down and get it. I'm just not into paying $60 for a game with a single player campaign that only last a handful of hours.

@FinalFantasyXIIIsucks

Well worn territory warning: but if it's a solid SP experience, who cares how long it is? Alan Wake was only a "handful of hours" and I don't regret for 1 second paying full price. Same with Uncharted. And Bulletstorm. And so on. If it's a good game, it's a good game.

Now if it's really about the money, and not about perceived value, wait 2 weeks. Somebody'll have LA Noire on sale by then.

@FinalFantasyXIIIsucks Well, from what I've been reading the 360 version of Noire spans 3 discs. I'm not sure if it's because of length or amount of detail.

Still waiting to read some Brink reviews before I decide whether to get it or L.A. Noire next week. Admittedly, the lack of PSN has me leaning toward L.A. Noire.

Brink is one of those games that could have benefitted from a PSN demo. I am not going to just up and buy it without having played it first and with LA Noire out next week I won't have any time for getting it exists. It's kind of sad, actually. Now I am getting LA Noire but only because I've been waiting for it for so long.

Still waiting for a review to come out before I order this from Amazon.

Less than one day and still no scores? What the f*ck is going on? That scares me....makes me think the developers/producers don't want the reviews getting out before people drop sixty smackers on it.

I will wait, thank you very much.

@Mal F4cti0n

Yeah, I want to see some reviews too. From my understanding, its kinda like TF2, but with a storyline that I really like(revolution, slum city dwellers fighting for more freedom). So it sounds like something I could really fall in love with, and if it has the online community, then It could be a good game for a few years. But I have some doubts too. The people that have played it are 50/50. Its gonna be hard to justify getting Brink while PSN is down and no reviews with L.A. Nior coming in a week.

Yeah, for me this is primarily a Multi-Player purchase.

Sucks for the developers/producers of this one cuz have their games sales would have probably come from the PS3. With PSN being down, I am sure a lot of people are going to hold off.

Lets all hope and pray that the PSN comes up soon. This is not good for gamers or game makers (and that is from a 360 owner).
