I always wondered why steam didn´t gave their engine for free just like unreal??? even though it´s pretty old it still works great and it looks pretty good, I´m sure more people will use it if they gave it just like epic.....

They do... If you have steam, you can install any of the editors. But if you want the assets from a specific game, you need to own that game.

And what about us Mac guys? (Or in this case, my Mac is the only one of my computers even remotely powerful enough to run Portal 2)

What is your Mac experience like? I'm running last year's MacBook Pro model. The graphics are gorgeous, but I do get occasional annoying stutters when I transition into a heavy-animation area.

Okay not trying to start the whole PC Mac thing but several months back I literally built a 6 core, 8 Gig RAM, 2TB SATA 6/gbs drive, with a DX 11 card for the price of an entry level Mac computer. If you've got money to burn that's one thing but why buy a Mac if it's as effective as an iPad?

And if you say it's cause of mal-ware, Mac Defender says hello!

@Caliber I'd love to bootcamp my Mac, but I lost my copy of Windows XP ages ago. I tried it once with someone else's copy, and to say I failed is something of an understatement. I just have that kinda luck with computers I guess.

Still no part of the Source SDK available for OS X. Was hoping it would hit alongside the Portal 2 tools, but nothing yet.

It'll be interesting to see if any of these mods make it to PS3 through steam, well, when it comes back online that is...

I'm excited to see how the user-made levels will be implemented in the PS3 version.

This is a good example of what you can do with it.

Can't wait for mods/maps from this.

Now if only PSN would come back up so I could redeem my copy.

@OmgUmad

Wait, do you need PSN to redeem the PC copy you get with the PS3 version?

I guess it's not so bad that my copy still hasn't arrived yet then...

@OmgUmad If you've already played Portal 2 on PS3 (before the outage), and attached your Steam account to it, no need to wait!

@FEARtheone24

That would be extremely improbable. Portal 2 was released on April 19th and the PSN went down on April 20th. Unless you managed to get your copy early (somehow...) or exactly on release day (more likely on the west coast than anywhere else in NA) the transit delay between "release from warehouse" and "available in stores" makes it more likely that the PSN was down by the time most folks got the PS3 disc. Those who did get it early are also those who were most likely to have already redeemed their PC copy.

@John Z

I was fortunate enough to pick up my PS3 copy at midnight. Linked my accounts and left the game downloading on Steam while I got some sleep.

A buddy of mine wasn't so fortunate :-\

Cool, maybe we could get some chambers were 9/10ths of the walls are not unportal-able.

That made 2 way too easy. All you had to do is look for the white walls.

that's what's killing it for me. I really don't like it that much. It's definitely good but that make it less than stellar

I'll grant it was easier in places, but once you unlocked the white gel it opened things up much more. I personally want to see more white gel puzzles.

I'm not the only one thinking it should have been called "Aperture Test Chamber Designing Application"(or something like that), right?
