TDU2 wasn't even finished when they released it. I'm surprised they aren't all fired already

Not to mention they had a similarly awful launch for the first Test Drive. If you can't figure it out in two games over half a decade, it's probably time to move on to something else.

The most busted game I have ever played. I had to save my game on a USB stick. If I didn't, the save games would get corrupted and I would have to start all over again Not to mention countless other problems. Driving around was fun though. Can't see why these guys are striking when they produce shit. Sounds like a union.

The original Test Drive Unlimited wasn't nearly the mess TDU2 is.

A "symbolic one day strike"? Sounds..... ineffectual.

@baddates77 True, but it's not like they have any real effective options. When your employer phases out almost 2/3 of your jobs, seems like the writing's on the wall already.

@baddates77 their protesting techniques are on par with their development techniques then ;)

Maybe the cuts are due to Eden games mismanagement of Test Drive Unlimited 2. Just saying.

Agreed-- while I enjoyed riding around, the expanse of the maps and the variety of cars, there are too many fundamental mistakes, bugs and head-sctatching omissions for it to be considered a "finished" game on launch.

let me guess, now we are all gonna blatantly hate Atari because the devs that we put up in pedestals and we hold so near and dear are saying bad things about the big suits that signs their checks.

Aren't these layoffs warranted? Or is this Eden's fault?

Why do you post anything here? You obviously have a grudge against the majority of the community here and your comments almost always get downvoted because they are so blatantly ignorant. Why do you still come here

You think you're a shepherd of a flock? These guys are clowns, Atari should shut them down this afternoon for this embarrassing PR stunt, if not their terrible games.

It's always sad to hear about job cuts in this industry, but I bought TDU2 the day it came out. I gotta say, that thing was as broken a game as I have ever seen. The driving itself is fun, especially when exploring the world, but everything else is just totally busted. Can't say I expect this strike to be too effective.

I love the TDU franchise, but yeah, maybe they should consider FINISHING a game first before releasing it. There were SO many issues with 2 that there is no way they didn't come up in testing. They knowingly put out an unfinished product, which, well, still isn't finished and now looks like it is never going to be. That is very sad, because TDU1 is still my favorite driving game, but 2 is, well, broken, and sadly, I don't think they're going to get another chance. Alone in the Dark, however, was a blight upon humanity, and plenty of people should have been fired for that travesty.

Eden is so full of potential. Kya: Dark Lineage and the first TDU were great games, but Alone in the Dark and TDU2 were so janky.

I have to admit, I picked up Test Drive 2 because I liked the first one so much, couldn't play it the first week, and haven't gone back to it since. What a waste. One of these days I'll have to check it out.

Eden should really find another publisher if they can break away from Atari.

As far as Atari moving away from retail games towards MMO, has fail written all over it. It's not the easiest business and can be costly to enter. Many have tried, few have succeeded.

So long Atari. It's a shame you've been so mismanaged all these years, and have decided to slowly fade away.

"The Eden Games message claims that [Atari president Jim Wilson] has "never introduced himself to his employees.""

Coward.

Although I must say, I think cutting over half of Eden's workforce deserves more than a single-day strike. But maybe that's all they could afford to do without putting their employees out any further than what may eventually come to June. My prayers and good luck goes out to those who *might* be affected but I hope it surely doesn't come to that.

Or they could have spent the day fixing their game!

The fact that TDU2 was so broken on release date could have very easily been a factor for the culling.

If I owned Atari they'd all be out the door.

It seems pretty obvious here that there's a massive disconnect between Atari and Eden - and anytime you have that type of working relationship between a developer and a publisher the products suffer for it. I'd bet good money Atari is just as much to blame for the problems of TDU2 as Eden was.

There's always a give and take in development, sometimes for the better and sometimes not. But you always discuss projects with publishers, especially when they're footing the bill (as Atari did) and not just signing on after the fact. It shows Atari didn't care about the team and didn't care about the game.

Eden can be blamed for trying to accomplish too much with too little budget, time or talent - but it's Atari that's supposed to manage them - and they didn't.

This just proves how crap Atari has become.
