No more excuses as to why I can't play it anymore.

I still always think of Dragonball Z/GT when I look at the artwork.

Probably because Akira Toriyama was one of the members of the team that worked on the game.

Yes, the PS1 version. Loading times unbearable.

All SNes JRPGs ports to the PS1 had impossible load times (FFVI standing as the worst). Nevertheless, I've reached all endings in CT on the PS1, the game is worth it, besides, the will be accessed from the hard drive and not a crappy CD, which surely will bump up those load times. I'm definitely getting this on the Wii Ware, but I'd much rather have the PS1 version with all those extras (I don't own a PS3 so no ending catalog for me)

@TheShaper We've been through this in the comments of other CT-related posts. The load times are exactly the same in the PSN versions as they are on the PS1. They're hard coded in. And Chrono Trigger had worse load times than FF VI.

Oh yeah, now I remembered reading something about the condition to exit the loading loop wasn't "when it's done reading" rather than "wait X seconds"

@Roto13 At least the Snes version had better sound effects (and not telephone 11KHz samples) and better quality music than the PS1 version.

It's been available on the DS for a while now. Besides, the people on eBay have to be mostly collectors.

I already have the ds version so I don't think I'll buy it again. Might get the psn version for my psp/ps3 but probably not. If I remember correctly, it suffered from load issues.

@ricochetguro I don't know why you would get the PS1 version if you already have the DS version. It's almost the same as the DS version, except shitty. If you want to play it on your TV, the VC version is definitely the way to go.

No news of Final Fantasy III/VI on Virtual Console = boo!

I think I'd rather pay the extra $7-ish and get the DS version, though.

@Punkrawk Bbob It was rated by the ESRB like 5 weeks ago, but it's still not out here. They'll probably want to give Chrono Trigger some room to breathe before releasing VI. :(

I guaratee you that they won't be as long, but I can't say if it'll be "transparent". Given the PS3 RAM, I suppose they could load the whole game into it, save the cutscenes, but that would demand recoding the whole thing and I suppose the PSN version will be a straight up port from the PS1 version.

Given that you go by the name Magus, not weird at all.

Besides, it's goddamn CT. I even own a Japanese version despite the fact that I don't have a Super Famicom nor can speak Japanese (which wouldn't be much of a problem really)

@Shadow Hog:

Depending on what you're looking at doing, you might have to do a little more. Some games require disabling the lockout chip, and if you're going for something like Terranigma, you've also got to install a 50/60Hz switch.
