Mortal Kombat 2 alone is worth 10 bucks. One of my favorite fighting games of all time.

@Mogwai 279 If the PSN ever comes back up, you can get MK2 alone for $5. Still, I'll jump all over this when it's released.

I would buy it if it was the rumored HD Kollection. I already have all these in original form. I want my pixels and sprites (and blood and guts) in HD!

Hmm its nice that they're releasing these, but I don't see why I'd wanna play any of these over the new MK.

My thoughts exactly. I spent hundreds of hours in my teens on MK2 and 3, but it is 2011 now and there is a new Mortal Kombat and it is AWESOME.

Still a great deal though, behind UMK3 I'd say MK2 was my favorite.

@zero2dash

UMK3 IS in the Kollection! NOT MK3! If you're registered on MK's forum, in their press release, it says MK, MK2, and UMK3.

There is a difference, Griffin!!! Lol!

Anyway, this is cool. I will be buying this. Hopefully the PS Store is up by then. I do have a 360 but I refuse to play fighting games on that thing because of the d-pad. And yes, I DO have 1 of those transforming d-pad controllers, they're nice but don't make that much of a difference.

@Rollins Exactly. Why not just put everything into MKT? It was meant to be a combination of all three games anyway.

@Teancum MKT is not a combo of those games. It's more a 'heres all the sprites we used, have fun' sort of thing. Horrible balance, lame fatalities for a lot of folks, etc. It's smash brothers for the MK universe.

@mrantimatter Mortal Kombat Trilogy was the best MOrtal Kombat game ever...And the most balance fighting game ever. YOu really dont know what you are talking about. People will buy this game in an instance. And if its redone and HD it will be the best game. They also should include MK4 like a Bonus

@bryoneill11 Correction, UMK3 was the most balanced fighting game ever. Trilogy was just a quick side-attempt to dump all the characters from the 3 games into one and let the players do whatever on it. Not a lot of development time went on with Trilogy, it was like a quick mash-up port.

I'm not gonna lie - the new Mortal Kombat is so good, and so true to the style of the first three games, that it makes going back almost completely moot.

Don't get me wrong, I have countless awesome memories of those first two MKs, but with the amount of fun my buddies and I are having playing nu-MK local, it's like we're back in school again (minus all the studying and homework, not that we did that anyway when Mortal Kombat was on).

Anywho, I'll respectfully pass on this and just keep playing the crap out of new MK.

Exactly...gameplay based off of UMK3 with everything from 1 & 2? How is this not an obvious decision? They need to get on it.

"Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a fighting game developed and published by Midway in 1996. It is a compilation of content from the previous Mortal Kombat titles, based primarily upon the gameplay mechanics of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Trilogy follows the same story as UMK3, but contains all characters and most of the stages from Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II as well."

@NinjaJesus Ugh... MK Trilogy is NOT a compilation... it's just UMK3, except it's WAY more unbalanced and includes more characters, most of them carbon copies or unfair bosses.

Also, it was never in arcades, so it wouldn't be part of an arcade collection anyway.

Put me on the list of people very happy that we're getting UMK3 instead of Trilogy.

Agree. I don't see the point on splitting the community (online) with three games if we could all be in one. Not to mention MK Trilogy is the best MK game. Note: Didn't play the new yet.

Totally glad I went for the "Kollector's" edition of MK with the bookends rather than the "Tournament Edition", since they are going to release that fightstick with the OG stock MK1 machine layout.

Brings back memories of being an 8 year old checking out the new cabinet at the arcade, and being left speechless as some teenager pulled off Sub-Zero's spine-rip fatality.

Dang, I was hoping it’d be Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Seems the most obvious one to do since it includes everything from the first three games. I would’ve bought that, but I’m not interested in the three individual games as one package.

All these games where fun to play but I've had my fill when they first came out. I don't need to relive some of those frustrating moments of certain moves and fatalities that dont come out.

This should have been released BEFORE MK9.
When people needed to quench their MK thirst.

Stupid business decision.

Anyway... I am not inclined to buy at all.
If they had MK Trilogy, I might have....
