Just hours after new details on the game came to light, Activision has launched the first of likely many teaser trailers for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 via Facebook. Subtitled "America Under Siege," the all-too-brief clip drives home the fact that a focus of the modern combat occurring in this installment will be the USA's own front lawn.
Enough explaining -- you can watch the 30 second video (reminiscent of the one used to debut Modern Warfare 2 in 2009) after the break, after which we're sure you'll have all sorts of plot theories to share in comments. Make us proud!
Update: We've added three more clips from Activision just after the break, teasing France, England, and Germany.
@TraceurRyuk Part III People don't hate it because it's not fun. People are mad because of the lack of inovation in each new title. How long can they re-hash the same formula?
Your years on the Battlefield games are all incorrect except for BF3. Drop them all down one year. Also, you fail to mention that both BFBC1 and 1943 were console-exclusive, and that they were "experiments" done by a smaller team at DICE. BF3 was in development for years in parallel to all the others.
@TraceurRyuk Part III Battlefield 1943 doesn't count. plus DICE have over 250 employees, developers like Infinity ward only had around 150 (and that was before many resigned after the Activision lawsuit).
And as a end note, I don't think COD is getting judged because of its yearly release. I think it is the fact that all the latest games looks and feels identical. I enjoy CoD, but I think its time for a change.
@TraceurRyuk Part III Plus, each Call of Duty game is in development for two years handled by different developers but people make it as if the same developer makes a new game every year.
@RetroGamer Not to get in the middle of this but IW has/had 150 and puts out a COD game every other year switching with another studio Treyarch. So, I'm guessing MW3 has been in development for around 2 years now. I enjoy COD because I know what I'm getting when I buy it, a fun time tested experience although not always super innovative. I will probably get MW3 if they show me enough of a reason to. But, I'm also getting tired of the same thing too. I want a game that I can throw in my 360 and play for a couple hours online besides COD. I'm wondering if they're ever going to do a Rainbow Six Vegas 3. The first two were pretty awesome.
In a twisted way, the plot of Modern Warfare 2 was that America invaded itself, with Russians, so that they could get more funding on defence and go attack other countries.
what if the only solution to getting all the ruskies out of america were to just nuke the shit out of the western states? it would be awesome if the finale of mw3 involved everyone in hollywood's faces simultaneously melting off from a nuclear blast.
@The Harbinger of Pie COD games roll out like every year to two years, they've become like EA sports games O_o I think I'll save my money and get Starhawk as well.
I'm with you on this one. Look at BF3 teaser vs MW3 teaser. Not even in the same ball park. I can't wait for BF3 to release its crown jewel which is the MP footage. It will bury MW3 6 feet under.
This is the work of marketing. Granted, I find Treyarch's marketing to be better. BF3 has been in development for years already. It's only right that they show gameplay of it to rally up hype. I'm sure development for MW3 only started last year. Like everybody here knows, COD always has essentially the same gameplay with each installment so showing gameplay really does nothing.
Personally, I'm not "taking sides" because I see no problem in owning both & playing both. They're just games. It's not like EA or Activision are going to reward you for choosing their game. They're competing for your money, not your loyalty. But that's just me.
Global warfare is raging and the battle will begin on November 8 when the cultural phenomenon Modern Warfare returns with the worldwide release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the newest installment in Activision's #1 first person action series being developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games.
