Add in the fact like Steam still hasn't re added Brink to the UK store. so many PC gamers have to venture outside =( must have added a somewhat nice amount too.

@Shiz Possibly, but every PC gamer I know would have just waited, particularly given that it seems like the PC version is the better version.

@Aerothorn The PC is piss poorly optimized. Can't really say that is :better:. I am still waiting for a damned patch that lets me run it acceptably.

I have been playing it all weekend. Despite the bugs (which I'm sure they will fix), this is an awesome team based game. Some improvements can be made further, yes, but I'm currently enjoying this game a lot! I guess until The Witcher 2 comes out...which is tomorrow. :)

I'm playing it on PC too.

It's not often a niche title gets the top spot in the charts. And by niche I meant that I played it over the weekend (Lovefilm) and can't really see many people other than gaming clans playing it for long. It's just been marketed as a mass-market game like CoD.

A question for anybody playing on PC, how was the AI patch?

@The Soft Machine I definitely noticed an improvement - before the patch, AI were quite apt to stand around doing nothing, or staring at you completing an objective while they should be killing you, or standing around a briefcase they should be picking up, but instead just looking around aimlessly. Since the patch they seem a lot less brain-damaged, and your AI teammates are a bit less useless as well.

I'm really enjoying Brink, despite its shortcomings. I understand the problems people are having with it, but even without the glitches and lag it would have never gone over well with the COD mentality that dominates console gaming. It just seems like it's the 'cool' thing to rag on Brink right now.

@CynicalStrike Unfortunetely every FPS is compared to CoD, nowadays. Even if it breaks out of that mold.

Well it's a Catch-22 scenario; if devs follow the COD template people will call it a rip-off (eg. Homefront), but if it does something different then it automatically sucks because it's not like COD! It's doubly annoying as Brink is hardly *that* original or out-of-leftfield; it's a pretty clear mix of Team Fortress 2, Shadowrun and Left 4 Dead.

@CynicalStrike Yeah, I think it's pretty awesome, myself. I will admit, some of the lag is pretty atrocious (and halving the player count is the *wrong* solution), but I've still been enjoying leveling up my character in SP for when the lag is patched.

@CynicalStrike Being of the "meh, CoD" mindset myself, I more compared Brink to its predecessor, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. The unfortunate thing is Brink basically feels like a limited, dumbed/watered-down version of that. Moreover, the customization options that were touted so heavily in previews seem ultimately underwhelming in reality. I'd also say I far preferred ETQW's environments - they felt far more detailed and expansive.

Just kinda feels like Brink represents Splash Damage doing pretty much nothing in particular over the past couple of years, after the high standard I'd dare say they set with ETQW.

Didn't really dig the campaign, but I could see this being interesting online. Not worth $50 though.

Nice to see hopefully it does well enough here in the US as well.
So that way we can maybe see a sequel later on.

If you want to play bad games why don't you just continue to purchase other bad games. Go buy Bioshock 2, Orange Box PS3 etc.

@Banksyliveraa

It's all up to the player to determine what he or she likes and doesn't like.
You don't have to be so negative, people like those games some don't.

How can a video game vault to anything, especially something as intangible as a video game sales chart? It has no arms and legs. I call BS..there's no way Brink vaulted to the top of the charts

Wow. People are still buying Black Ops? Seriously? I'm not ripping on the game per se (though my hatred of Treyarch is not a secret), but I am surprised given it's been out for 6 months already...
