The select PlayStation Network services that came back online in North America over the weekend have now shaken off their bonds in a handful of other territories across the globs. Formerly jilted users living in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South America should now have access to online multiplayer, third-party video services and all the other reactivated features that returned this past Saturday.
Unfortunately, the flood of people who have made their first priority to change their password have overwhelmed both the PlayStation Network servers and their ISPs, leading to delays for password reset emails. If you requested a password reset and haven't heard back yet, Sony asks that you "please give it a bit of time to reach your email."

Why does one need a password reset email? I downloaded the update, was promptly greeted with the change your password screen, I did and signed in immediately. Changing your password is mandatory. Or is that only in NA?

@Jason B - I was wondering the exact same thing. No emails required for my console.
As far as I know, the only time you would need to have an email sent to you is if you didn't have a console handy that you had activated your account on. If your PS3 has your account(s) already activated on it (whether it was the original console you created your account on or a different one), you don't need the email.

@irotmx late last evening...I was doing some homework, and just started browsing articles on the network, and saw that some areas were up and running...jumped on, downloaded the update, and held my breath for fifteen minutes until I was finally signed in and trucking through nuketown...must admit, I was quite rusty. Are you not back on yet?

Well I'm happy that California was basically the second place up, so I was able to get my password reset email in a matter of minutes before the flood of people started coming in.
