Sweet! I already have all the achievements for Mass Effect 1 & 2, but I'll still buy this anyway because I can't get enough! Yeah, I know... I'm a Mass Effect whore. ;-)

I heard the iOS games are terrible, but I quite enjoyed the novels. Might be a different story if I didn't borrow them though lol

EVERYTHING is Microsoft's way of making money.

@Copybass Ah jeez zombies

Hey dumbass did I say that Microsoft has no other avenues in making money?

This is free for any mass effect 2 owner on the PS3, while us 360 players have to pay $4 for it.... when this is just a recap of mass effect 1.

Again this is Microsoft's way of making money.

Other people do want it, hence there is demand,
Microsoft is complying to that demand by supplying the product,
This is called economics, this is how everyone makes money,
Microsoft did not invent this strategy.

If you don't want it, than don't buy it.

But is there value in those $4? Considering the alternative for Xbox 360 owners is to just go buy ME1 (which PS3 owners can't do which is, what? $20? That means my choice is spend $4 on a motion comic (about the same price as a regular newsstand comic) and get to create various iterations of the end of ME1 without having to replay the first time and time again, or go buy/replay ME1. I don't really want to go back through the first again after the control improvements in 2. I haven't bought it (and probably won't) so I don't know the value yet, but it seems kind of silly to poopoo the idea. They gave it to PS3 owners for free so they'd go buy ME2... which is Sony's way of making money.

I don't understand why I am being down voted... All I said was this was Microsoft's way of making money.

if your a 360 owner and you haven't played mass effect 1 than buy it... but if you already played it... what's the point?

ALL IM SAYING IS PS3 GOT THIS FOR FREE, WHILE THE 360 IS CHARGING US FOR IT.

But... Microsoft didn't even MAKE this. Bioware (in some collaboration with Dark Horse) did. It just happens to be available on XBLA now. If you'd said this was Bioware's way of making more money, I think you'd have been a little more accurate.

You didn't get it for free with the PS3 version, it was included in the $60 you paid, for a year old game.

Exactly. You could easily get ME2 and all the extra content for it on 360 than you can currently get it for on the PS3, so OP's point is questionable

Why do you think this should be free? I love free stuff just as much as anyone else, but your assumption that it should be free is starting to sound like you feel entitled to this free thing.

I again ask, why do you think it should be free?

I didn't know it was even getting released on the 360 and thought, "that's kind of cool. I can see how the PS3 players played through ME2 without the first one now and play out some different scenarios", but then I kept reading and saw a price tag. Really? This should definitely be free. Weak.

Don't get it. I supposedly gives you very little control over what happens in the game. For example, you can't save the colonists on Feros.

That Bioware keeps trying to get more and more new people with each new game is just utterly idiotic. You don't start reading a book a third from the start or a third from the ending. And because they have to accommodate all the new players, the games suffer from it. "Oh, we can't have Wrex as a party member, he's dead for the new players so they wouldn't be able to see it." "Oh, we can't make x matter too much, because some people might not see it." And now they want even more people with ME3? Great idea, make people see the finale but not the parts leading up to it. I despise anyone buying ME3 without having played the other two.

i agree with you, but all the ps3 owners out there essentially started experiencing the plot a third of the way in soooo, apparently it works for some people? then there's all those people who bought dead space 2 without having played the first and think it's awesome.

@Mehbah the points in the comic which allows you to make a decision were the main points that would of effected how mass effect 2 would start, the other details like you listed had no effect how mass effect 2 would start

@Mehbah i've actually gone through both ME1 too many times, and while i do love it, i don't exactly enjoy the idea of going through it again simply for an unimportant ME2 playthrough...and playing it half-butted won't do, if i play it i'll play it right; so, this gives me the option to go through ME1 just for a fun playthrough with unimportant characters...and besides, I'M A MASS EFFECT WHORE...although, i do agree that if you haven't played mass effect 1, then you should before you play the sequels

So let me get this straight:

You pay EA/Bioware/MS $4 to never play Mass Effect 1 again and you trade it into Eb Games for $7 tiv.

Seems like a really good deal to me. Especially the "never playing ME1 again" part.

How about the fact that it was shut down a few weeks ago, soon after Download Squad? It's non-existent now. Notice how it and DS disappeared from the bottom of the page's blogroll? Joystiq/AOL hasgiven no statements on why they shut them down either, since Big Download and especially Download Squad were quite popular. I liked DS as the software counterpart to Engadget, and BD as the more PC-oriented counterpart to Joystiq.

now Obama Shepard can start ME2 without using the default canon, theres no way ME1 was ever getting finished again

thank you bioware

I don't wanna ruin the surprise, but if there is one thing Ive learned about Joystiq is that generally you should go elsewhere for your PC gaming news. I wonder if they are going to review The Witcher 2 even.

BTW, The Witcher 2... AMAZING~.
