Final Fantasy Tactics coming to iPhone in late June/mid-July, iPad later
44
The Square Enix DLG Facebook page recently delivered a long-overdue update on the status of the iOS version of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. It's currently slated to arrive on the iPhone in late June to mid-July. That's a little outside of its initial Spring 2011 launch window, but we're willing to give Square the benefit of the doubt, and label said time period as "very, very late Spring."
The update also mentions the game's iPad version, which will arrive "slightly behind" the iPhone version. The delay is attributed to the port's higher resolution -- a feature which Square is taking full advantage of by re-drawing some of the game's jaggier artwork. We were hoping that they'd take the time to also give the game's characters some noses, but we suppose beggars can't be choosers.

Does the Japanese text translate to "just a little faster"?

Rated AO, if this picture is to be believed!

If I had an iPhone or and iPad I would download this the day it becomes available. As it stands I will just have to settle for making the people I know who do have those devices download it, and then play it on my PSP.

If the iOS port has the updated translation from the PSP version, running at normal speed, and coupled with the spell incantations of the original, then I'd be sold on it.
Come to think of it, I never did actually finish either the original or the PSP version.

A far cry from September of last year's release date, but better late than never. I'll buy this day one.

Hopefully spells don't cause it to slowdown like the PSP version does to mine. >

I'd be mad at squeenix if so they weren't in the process of dropping 2 new ips onto the appstore, Imaginary Range (that's already out and great fun) and the prequel to Chaos Rings.
My annoyance with SE is starting to fade with all this good work.

Also how is it possible that iOS will get Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's still not up on PSN (PSOne Classic doesn't count).

I'm a Disgaea SRPG player, but wouldn't mind giving this a shot knowing how many good things are said about it. Would I have a hard time adapting?

Nice game but I already played it back in the day. I would like it if they re-release Ogre Battle.

Glad to finally see an update on this. I've enjoyed a lot of the other SE titles on iOS, and I'll be sure to try this one out as well.

Ha ha, I was looking at the main page for articles and as I scrolled down I saw this image, my first thought was "WTF!"

Well, it's about time we got an update on this. If this version of the game fixes the atrocious slowdown problem of the PSP version, I'll likely shell out for it... for the fifth time.
(And maybe this time I'll actually beat it.)

I recently started playing this on my PSP. This is the first game I bought for it and never finished it. It's just an amazing game and I think everyone has to play it.

I'm with Ogodfreed! Knowing an iOS release was imminent helped me migrate from a Touch experience to an iPhone experience, and then Sony whispered on their Wall its delay. I can't wait to have FFT **everywhere**!
