Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 aiming for all consoles this holiday
27
If you're as obsessed with the boy who lived as we are, this summer's final chapter in the Harry Potter film series is unlikely to sate your desire for British wizardry. Thankfully, Warner Bros. has announced that the next entry in the Lego Harry Potter series will arrive on pretty much anything that plays video games, sometime "this holiday."
Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 follows Harry and co. through the treacherous final years at Hogwarts, leading up to the seventh book's catastrophic conclusions. Interestingly, the game is one of a handful of announced games for Sony's forthcoming system, the NGP (in addition to the PSP -- they're going to live alongside each other, remember?)
If Lego HP lives up to its promise of launching on all those consoles this holiday, it looks like North America is still set to be one of the first territories getting Sony's new handheld before year's end. Reps from WBIE hadn't gotten back to us as of publishing.

The first LEGO HP game seemed like a marked improvement over the last couple I'd played, but yeah, the rest of them are basically just reskinned versions of the previous games.

Good God how many of these Lego games are there now? How has this not crashed and burned yet, not even Guitar Hero was this bad.

Because the games are actually good. They might all be rather similar, but I think they expect people to buy the ones that appeal to them, not each and every game, and it's rare to see a developer put so much effort into making a game based on popular movie licenses, especially when they're aimed at kids.
The Guitar Hero games will literally shovelled out with zero effort, got worse with each instalment and contained nothing that couldn't have been added with DLC.

But, they aren't. At least not the one I played with the Star Wars movies, it was awful. The platforming was so bad it bordered on being broken, destroying everything in sight and collecting those stud bits got old fast, very little variety between characters. I think almost all could be summed up as Jedi, gunman, or, well, the droids/Ani didn't really do anything. Boss battles were basically button mashing affairs, and the little variety in space missions/podracing was simplified to the point where similiar experiences can be had for free on flash games.
The cutscenes weren't really entertaining either, but that seems to be what's mostly praised in the series, if that's what it's all about to you then why not just Youtube it or something?

@(Unverified) maybe some of us have more intelligence than to play games where the only thing you do is walk around and kill people!! let me guess your a mw2 or black ops player, right? oh yes, that has to be such a better game, lets kill people, see blood fly everywhere and then get mad if someone kills u instead! or how about gta, where u can "get it on" with hookers and then kill them, oh yes im sure those r better games, i think not!! some of us like to have to figure things out like puzzles (which are what the lego games are), and relive our fave moments from movies and books!!!

The only problem I had with the first Lego Harry Potter is it had a this glitch where you fall into this room and you can't get out. Best part? It saves while you are down there forcing you to restart the bloody game.
Other than that, I enjoyed the hell out of it

hooray! its been confirmed!
boo! why have we been waiting so long for it?
i finished the first one in a week, adored it, but with the delay for the sequel, coinciding with neither movie, i have become jaded and apathetic.
day one purchase!

I'll be picking this one up for sure. Of course in another 9-12 months they'll probably announce the complete edition that comes with all the years...and I'll probably buy that one too.
I'm a little disappointed that this isn't going to be the complete edition, but it's ok. I'm just excited to get to finish up the series :)

For those complaining about them milking the franchise they only are I you like star wars, Indiana Jones, pirates of the caribbean and Harry potter. Because its not like they all continue one to another you like star wars then only buy star wars. The only one that was milking was Indy 2 which they seem to have learnt there lesseon with pirates having even the unreleased film.

Is it me, or is Lego Harry Potter 1 bland on the PSP... I mean, not to be a graphics whore, but Lego starwars 1 and 2 were way better graphics wise and even the sound quality is "meh" at best on HP.
