The translation also notes that "all dragons speak" in the game, with Howard further explaining "it's actually what they do when they are spouting fire." He hinted that some dragons will be able to communicate with the player in "the common tongue," though we're distinctly worried about what happens when a dragon can't remember the "common" word for something. Does he try to pronounce it in dragon, and accidentally set ablaze whoever he's speaking with? Either way, it sounds dangerous.
Well, at least we won't run out of dragons in Skyrim

As if the concept of defeating just several dragons in Bethesda's forthcoming Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim wasn't enough to get your dragon-murdering blood going, maybe this little bit of info from producer Todd Howard will: "There is an unlimited number of dragons" in the forthcoming game, he told Norwegian magazine Gamer.no (according to a fan translation on Bethesda's forums). Not only will dragons appear in scripted encounters, but they'll also be randomly generated in the gameworld.

This is kinda old news...I thought he said the same thing on GTTV a month or two ago. Regardless, I'm glad I won't run out of dragons to kill!

Actually give the dragons a Sean Connery accent like from Dragonheart and this game is a sure fire 11/10 review score.

Looking forward to having a political discussion with a dragon about the latest happenings in Tamriel, then cutting it's wings off.

As a matter of fact, dragon is a pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.

I've owned Oblivion and played it for about 3 days. I really tried to like the game mainly because of the scope and graphics, but just couldn't get past how the controls felt. This game looks very promising, and i'll probably get it even if the mele controls feel similar. I want talking dragons!

I've been saying for a while that Oblivion has aged really, really poorly. It's one of those things for which you just had to be there. At the time, man... I can't even begin to describe having Oblivion as your first experience of this gen.

According to The Elder Scrolls mythos, there is actually a dragon race, it's an old specimen that habitated Akavir, an ancient continent of Tamriel.

Highfives? /cough
But seriously folks, I'm stoked for this game. I still get hankerings to play Oblivion every now and again (still haven't finished that bloodydamn main quest, even though I can pretty much remember the layout of most of the game's dungeons upon entering them). It just takes so long to install all the mods and music back on, plus I have a Pavlovian murder response to hearing the guards say anything.

"Help there's a dragon stuck in my roof!"
(Meanwhile, Player Character is robbing all the people blind freaking out about the dragon stuck in the roof.)

What he said. I bought my first 360 alongside a copy of Oblivion when it had just released and was absolutely blown away. It felt like the first time I played the Sega Master system (the first console my parents ever bought me), like I was experiencing video games for the first time all over again

Skyrim: More dragons, less everything else

Forgive me for being sceptical but, as much as I liked Oblivion, I also hated it.
Dragons sounds cool but if it follows the same repetition as the other titles in the series then it's going to let me down anyway.
From endless plains to unlimited snow? Oh, and will one cave actually look different from one another, as opposed to pretty much looking the same with different turns? Oh, and how about making the faces look a little less... ugly?
Most of my complaints are aesthetic but I have always felt Oblivion's large landscape was overshadowed by it's repetition, something that was also in previous titles but not felt as much for me, personally. Dragons don't change how cruddy an environment feels.

@Bielzer
I thought he was describing Fallout 3, myself.
Granted, for many gamers, something as wide open as Oblivion isn't going to work for them. I hear so many people complain about 'not knowing what to do next'.... never once realizing that's the whole point of the game: what you do next is whatever you want.
Some people need more guidance than that, and discovering the different characters and storylines and mechanics is something they will never get around ti, because they weren't getting instructions every 30 seconds on where to go and what to do next.
It's too bad. Getting lost in a world is my favorite thing to do in a game- I can spend dozens and dozens of hours (400 hours on my last Oblivion save file) just wandering the environment, exploring. Sadly, not many gamers seems to share that desire, seeing as so few developers are making games to accommodate us.
