Dragon Age 3 was unceremoniously outed on Twitter last night in a call by BioWare creative lead Alistair McNally for new artists. "I'm looking for exceptional environment artists to join me at #BioWare Edmonton, Canada to work on #DragonAge3," he tweeted yesterday evening.
He added a few corresponding hashtags, but otherwise left the subtle reveal at that. An hour later, seemingly with environment artists still on his mind, McNally was praising The Witcher 2 for its topnotch graphics. "Looks stunning with DX11 and everything turned up," he tweeted.
[Thanks, Tyler C.]

The Witcher 2 does look great with everything turned up. I tried turning things down for a better framerate, but after seeing it maxed out (even sub 30fps) it's hard to play it that way.

Hopefully beefing up on environment artists for DA3 will result in a wide variety of environments instead of rehashing the same ones over and over throughout the game.

I so glad after the long development process for DA2 they are hard at work on a sequel.

So does that mean they'll have more than 7 environments?

I draw stick figures Bioware.
I hope I get the Job.
Also I have to say DA2 was pretty fun if you ask me.
My biggest issue would be the environments being reused a lot though.

Dragon Age 2, while improving on the original in many respects, also succeeded for me in making none of the encounters meaningful - mowing down hundreds of dudes is cool for a while, but wears thin as it just becomes your seeming "Job" to thin the heard. Also, the choices, via the writing was very much coke or pepsi, when you may not like cola at all.

@BrianH I still don't understand this complaint. Dragon Age 2 had a story much like LA Noire, its several short stories broken up.The tutorial of Hawke and family escaping Ferelden, The first part about the deep roads expedition, the next about the Qunari situation, and the final section with the Mages Vs Templar conflict, the final two parts both eluded too during the first. I'll give its not a well told story, but hard to follow? Maybe I was just paying attention.

I can't honestly say I have much faith for DA at the moment. I completely lost interest in DA2 at the third act. There's no sense of purpose or adventure, just shit happening. Only a handful of the characters are likable or otherwise not boring as hell, the combat looked great until you were flying around the battlefield like you were in an episode of Dragonball Z, they utterly BUTCHERED the darkspawn, and everything was just unbelievably lazy. They recycled the same 5 environments again and again and acted like nobody would notice that one cave is EXACTLY like the other except with a rock blocking one of the entrances, and it ran like rusting hippie-van despite the bland and undetailed graphics.
I'm not a /v/tard, but I have no idea what they were thinking when they made DA2. I can only pray that ME3 is going to be as great as it deserves to be.

@(Unverified) What? How did they butcher the darkspawn? There wasn't a blight, so there wasn't a huge reason to include them frequently. If you're complaining about their visual style, come on, aside from the Ogre's skin color, they looked pretty much the same.

Huge mass effect fan but was never was sold on dragon age....I only played the first one but the combat was sooo horrible....
I kinda wish the fighting was like soul calibur
Except instead of 1 on 1 it's one on many with leveling unlockable weapons and lots of leveling and story

And after playing both i can say that witcher 2 is everything DA 2 should have been

I'm with you. I didn't pick up the original DA until after playing ME and ME2. DA just seems like a huge step backwards in combat, dialog, and graphics. I was really surprised when I started playing it and realized my character didn't talk.

Whamm Bammm Thank you sir/ma'am...nice Bioware...just keep churning out games in these franchises to COD them...lol. While there were some nice improvements to DA2, Bioware gutted quite a bit out of the game, and it looks like they are going to try and churn out DA3 as fast as they can...lol...what a shame. I hope SWTOR works out so they can keep everyone employed and see the remaining franchises put on hiatus.

I did too, but I understand the complaints. You could essentially take back your decisions at any time and the results would always be the same. I also miss my Grey Warden. He was a Dwarven bard and a veritable sex machine...

Saying you liked DA2 pretty much say you haven't played to many good RPG's. Try broadining your horizons. That game was horrible. The First Dragon Age was playable on the PC but the ports to xbox and ps3 were horrible imo. Neverwinters night and Baldurs Gate were much better games and they came out years ago. The WItcher 2 is awesome. If you want to see how it's supposed to be done check out that title. You can also play Demon Soul's one of the best RPG's ever.

I did too! Sure the plot sucked, but in terms of gameplay mechanics, it was great! Even on my low-end computer, the game ran pretty fast amazingly.

I think people would have been more accepting of the title if they didn't market it as a sequel, but rather a different story. Much like Joystiq writers like to put it, a title like Dragon Age: The Kirkwall Chronicles, would have been far more appropiate.

Come to Edmonton, folks! It's a great city. The city of champions, actually. We've got, ya know, buildings and stuff. There's a river. It's, uh, well, nice? Kind of, I guess. The snow is all gone and it's mostly green now. Ummmm, we have a hockey te-a crap, they finished in last place. In the summer you can watch the Eskimos? The weather is warm, but the damn mosquitoes are really pissing me off.
Why the hell do I live here again?

Can't wait to play as a new character who hears exactly half a sentence about my previous characters who I spent countless hours on...
Seriously, they need to stop being lazy and figure out how to incorporate events from the past games... Mass Effect does this just dandy. It was embarrassing that people who were clearly DEAD in the previous DA miraculously bumped into my in DA2.

@bjb1990 Mentioning ME2 makes sense though... both are sequels from the same company, and both tried going in a different direction than their original. DIfference is ME2 actually succeeded in their attempt and DA2 fell flat. Maybe if they learned from their mistakes DA3 could still be decent.
