Brink patch scheduled for next week, addresses lag
52
If you're still having trouble keeping a smooth connection to Brink's class-based skirmishes, you may have better luck after an update launches for all three of the game's platforms next week. Bethesda's blog outlines the changes included in each version, including a few graphical glitches in the PC version of the game, and a bizarre freezing issue reported only by German players.
The blog post says Bethesda expects to launch all three patches sometime next week, so keep an eye out for the automatic update over the next few days. The post also has some helpful tips for avoiding lag until the patches go live. Let's see: "Sacrifice a small animal on your console of choice, as if said console were some kind of pagan altar." Whoa! That's ... no. Don't do that.

@SirUrza
it's a hard choice...
Pro 360 - i like the idea that everyone has the same hardware as me, makes me feel like everyone is on the same footing.
Pro PC - Shooters for me is funner with a mouse and keyboard (getting tired of getting legs/kneecaps kills)
Pro 360 - xlive is well done in my opinion
Pro PC - So is steam (hum, ps3 should completely integrate steam like they did for portal 2)
Pro 360 - depending on your $ state, you will need a good pc if you want to have a a fun time online (game spikes suck)
Pro PC - Having dedicated servers is an awesome thing!
Pro 360 - crashing on the couch feels better then crashing at a desk
Pro PC - the support in the long run will be better (mods or whatever and maybe free dlc)
Dunno, it's a tough one... got my ps3 and i'm enjoying my couch but i miss the dedicated servers :(

Hell yeah! here is to hoping it does what it is supposed to! I hate when you find a good match setup with lots of people and it is ruined by rubberbanding all over the place.
Brink has been my current top played game since its release! Addicting!

This game was a crutch for bethesda, until skyrim comes out.

I think Brink is pretty great. Aside from nonexistant headshots, a shoddy matchmaking system, and the misleading information that was put out in trailers regarding multiplayer, I'd say it is pretty good. Not great, but good enough for me to be addicted. I just fear alot of people will cease playing once other titles release.

@Godslegion Dunno what you mean by non existent headshots as they happen on a pretty regular basis. Yeah they don't happen quite as often as in other shooters but with the rifle it's pretty much a given.
I know not everyone is having the issue but on PC the openGL drivers will lose sync and crash the game which is pretty frustrating. And apparently the upcoming patch will not be fixing this problem. :(

I like brink. I don't like traditional multiplayer deathmatch etc but like Horde on Gears and coop in Uncharted etc. So if you like those..

Good! I have been still having the occasional lag issue when playing.
I hope the next title update implements some sort of Matchmaking lobby that allows the players to edit their character's appearance, loadout, and abilities without having to exit to the main menu.
So far this game is amazing, despite the issues. Looking forward to the June DLC :)

Anyone know if the patch addresses the issue that the game is absolutely awful?

I purchased Brink in defiance to the poor reviews. In the end the poor reviews got the best of me. Brink went back to the local game store. Its great that there are so many people that like it. How cool is it that we get such a variety experiences.

I guess i pick this game up when it around $30-$20 especially with all the problem that came with it.

@bargaingamer By the time it hits that bargain bin, greater titles will have been released.

Overpriced? No one forced you to buy it upon release.
You're simply a mug, like the rest of them :D

No one forced me to buy it but from what they advertised it was a full fleshed out game and it is going bring something new to the table. It is a bare bones game. There are $10 games on PSN and XBL that have more to offer than this game. Anyone who buys this for $30 is still getting ripped off.

Glad to hear it. The lag is my only real problem with the game so far. They under-delivered on some of their promises, but I play games as they are (is it fun, am I enjoying myself), not based on how any marketing team promised them to be.

Can we finally get over saying every game published or associated to Bethesda is made by them? It's like willful ignorance at this point.

Tired of all these people bashin the game. Its the same people who think Bulletstorm is the greatest game every, even with the minimal amount of skill needed to play it.

I like the MP portion, and this patch well help make it all the better I'm sure. But it still doesn't address the game brakingly bad ai in the single player. Without a full group to play with, some of these levels are practically unplayable on the hard difficulty.

It might be too late for me. I enjoy what it offers and im nearly done with all the Achievements. Plus i got the biggest slap in the face from someone who convinced me to buy it (though i was going to eventually). So i buy it play a few games with him and he decideds he doesnt like it anymore. What the hell? Anway, after i finish it up ill probably sell it. Id rather have a new controller anyay. Atleast you got my money Splash Damage. I wish you well in your next venture.

@iAlejandro C'mon everybody... Alejandro never got enough attention from mommy and daddy, so he's here to try to get some from you. Everyone let him know your approval and that you think he's really special and you don't blame him for ruining your marriage.

I had a lot of expectations about BRINK, in the end... I see mixed reactions, mixed reviews, some complains about lag and miss information about the game modes included... Unfortunately I´ll have to wait about 6 months. If by then, I realize that the servers are almost empty, I´ll skip it.

Too late for me. With all the poor reviews, especially the awful lag problems reported on the 360, I never opened my copy and just returned it this weekend.
