Mustard wouldn't go into more detail about the project, but it doesn't sound like the studio's interested in bringing the original title to smartphones. He said, "Shadow Complex is designed for a controller. I'm not a fan of trying to shoehorn console controls onto touch screens. They don't feel right. You just lose so much precision." Sure, but do you really need much precision when you're wielding a gun that sprays entire hallways with a deluge of foam? We think not.
Chair: More Shadow Complex is 'a question of when'

It has been nearly two years since Chair Entertainment wowed us with its action-platformer Shadow Complex, but we still frequently think about how badly we want to return to its technology-filled catacombs. Apparently, we're not the only ones -- in a recent [some of you might have noticed -- as we just did -- the original article actually went up during PAX East. Sorry we missed it the first time around!] interview with Eurogamer, Chair creative director Donald Mustard said, "More Shadow Complex isn't a question of if, it's a question of when," later adding, "Shadow Complex is our baby and we love it dearly and, y'know, we're working on some cool stuff [in general]."

anyone else feel like the story was the weakest part of the game?
had a great time playing it and look forward to more but the magic for me, was in the gameplay and environments.

i believe he's speaking on the man's body of work in a general sense, as in, generally, orson scott card's stories suck. with the exception of ender's game and speaker for the dead, i'm inclined to agree with him.

You guys are lame. Orson Scott Card is a solid writer who has written many good books. If you just want to bash him for his views on homosexuality then stop beating around the bush (pun intended) and have the guts to just come out and say it. I mean, that's what this is about, right? Of course it is, A Sandwich, of course it is.

I'll say that without a hint of sarcasm. I hated Ender's Game more than any other book I've ever read. My loathing for that novel goes well beyond any sort of rational thought, and I really can't explain why.
I had to write an analysis on it in high school, but I hated it so much I stopped reading it halfway through. I ended up making up an ending for the plot summary section that was basically the synopsis for The Last Starfighter, and I got 100% on the project. God bless public school systems!

Did Microsoft fund the original? I played through it on my friends' 360 and LOVED it and would absolutely buy the game if they brought it over to PS3 at some point.

And after a short Wikipedia search, I answered my own question. Shame MGS published this. Hopefully they release a sequel before I get married and move out from my roommate who has a 360. XD

Yep. Put it in your registry. And then get one for yourself . . . or maybe if you get lucky, if it's sitting in your registry, someone else will get it for you.

Had a 360 before...just stopped outputting video. The sound went out fine but I just couldn't see anything. Microsoft wouldn't cover it either. I already had a PS3 at the time so I said screw it. No offense to the 360. It's a great system when it works...I just didn't want to go through several systems.

Also not sure why I got downvoted for saying I'd like to buy a great game if it came out on my system. Hard to predict Joystiq sometimes. XD

D'oh! I guess what I meant to say then that they're still at least making good games with controllers besides the iOS ones.

Great game... I just thought it was too easy to be called a Metroidvania type game... The bosses in particular... It's just not Metroid or Castlevania unless u get frustrated to the point where only the image of your controller cracking ur TV screen will suffice...

Love it. But I'm a little afraid that a follow-up doesn't live up to the hype.
Oh, to those in need of a Metroidvania fix: it's not quite the same, but Outland has a little of it in its bones.

Never said "unfairly" hard... It was just my opinion, I thought it was too easy, not enough variety in enemy types and most bosses were ridiculously easy even on the hardest difficulty...
@thevoid, I didn't think Super Metroid was easy at all... Or SoTN for that matter... Maybe because I was alot younger? Idk...

Shadow Complex was a great surprise and was among my favorite gaming experiences of that year. I been waiting for Shadow Complex 2 ever since. Hopefully it won't be to terribly long before they announce something solid.

Outland is amazing easily up there with the best xbl had to offer! More challenging than shdow complex.
I hope Shadow complex two has more variety in the environments, maybe a ruined city or ocean base or a base in alaska. Cant wait!!!

I think that will depend on your concept of "challenging". I sure died more in Outland than in SC (I think), but it had a pretty forgiving checkpoint system where you'd hardly ever die more than twice in the same spot (sans The Sisters battle). I think that what makes a Metroidvania game challenging is the "where to now?" feeling a lot more than "arcade action" and Outland took you by the hand regarding the former.
Don' take me wrong, I loved both games, but even though I feel Outland has a Metroidvania vibe to it, it can't actually be categorized as such. It sure makes up for the lack of games in the genre, though.

How can they have a sequel when I took off in the Jeep? Where do they go from there?
Seriously, that was a nice addition to the game. An alternate "ending" in the middle of the game!
