'PSP Remaster' series coming to PS3 in Japan, starting with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
98
In the wee hours of the morning, Sony Computer Entertainment announced a program which could make several of its popular properties even more profitable: A "PSP Remaster" series, which will port select PSP titles to Blu-ray on PS3. The first entry in the series, which has only been confirmed for the Japanese market, is Capcom's bone-collecting action-RPG Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, which will be infused with a booster shot of "more gorgeous and vibrant" visuals.
The series' press release announcement says these PSP ports will be completely compatible with their portable counterparts, allowing players to transfer save data between the two versions, or play with nearby friends using ad-hoc mode on the PS3. The press release also mentions that some games might feature "new add-on content or stereoscopic 3D support" -- however, no other games or North American launch details have been announced. We've got our fingers crossed for some timely E3 elucidation.

Before getting excited we might want to wait for America to get announcements. A lot of stuff tends to stay Japanese exclusive.

And the Patapon series, Chain of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, Resistance Retribution, Valkyrie Chronicles 2, Half Minute Hero, and so forth. Just imagine the possibilities- the PSP has a great collection of super original but lesser known games.

@DangerMouse001 While they're at it they should remove a certain Quick Time event in the game. In fact they might want to remove the entire mission it almost stopped me from playing the rest of the game.

That's great! While I already own a PSP, I don't usually play on it because I find myself spending more time on my consoles, at least this will give me a chance to pick up games I missed or play one's I haven't started yet :).

they should do this with every future PSP/NGP release.

@sin2sin
That would be nice, but really really really unlikely. If you could get all the hot new games from the NGP on your PS3, you wouldn't need an NGP.
If we've learned anything about the PSP Go, people will not buy something that they already have, but with less functions.

What better way to kick off these remastered games than with the best PSP game out right now. Playing MHP3rd with a dual shock alone makes me a happy panda!

Damn Sony! Keep some secrets for E3.
I know the GoW games will be remastered. I hope they do remaster MGS peace walker as well. Digital and physical copy.
I can't wait for E3!!!

I mean Monster Hunter is ALMOST as good, addictive and deep as Pokemon. Therefore making it the 2nd best gaming series ever!

@troxnor Well they are creeping up on 70 million sold, and psp2 is about to come out, there isnt much of a point to keep supporting the OG psp much longer. At least we get some more great games to play on the ps3.
