Dead Space 2 adding free multiplayer maps
32
EA is adding two new multiplayer maps for free to Dead Space 2 in a couple weeks. The "Outbreak Map Pack," which includes The Academy and The Concourse, will send players back to survive multiplayer evisceration in The Sprawl on May 31 and June 3 for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.
The sci-fi horror sequel has done well for EA, shipping over 2 million units and the DS2:Severed DLC mentioned as a digital sales highlight for the publisher. EA makes no mention of the Outbreak Map Pack for the PC version of the game.

That is awesome. The multiplayer is very refreshing and a lot of fun.

@Mika101 If you liked the multiplayer in Dead Space 2 you should check out Singularity.

Agreed. Loved the multiplayer in Singularity. While the SP was kind of "meh" the MP was the reason I regretted only renting the game.

I just finished the SP last night, and uninstalled the game. It was pretty good. Quite gamey, I'm still picking bits out my teeth.

I hated the multiplayer in Dead Space 2. Just didn't find any entertainment value in it. Played a couple of rounds and it felt very generic.
Saying that, it's nice of them to release the maps for free for people who DO enjoy it. I don't see myself playing it again any time soon though.

Haven't touched Dead Space 2 multi in a while, it wasn't my cup of tea. But hell for free maps I'll be willing to try it again.

If The Academy is going to be anything like the single-player level in the game, then this will be amazing.

Free from EA? There has to be a catch.

@Dirtyboy It's free for people with the online pass. The online pass is $10 if you didnt buy the game new.

Unless it adds trophies/achievements I won't bother. Dead Space 2 MP is fun but there's no real reason to play it.

Fun isn't a good reason to play a game?
What has the world come to?

I think you both are misinterpreting his/her comment. Dead Space 2 mutli is fun, but it just feels totally pointless when you're playing it. I mean sure, it's fun to kick back and just turn your brain off and play but you really don't feel you have a reason to play, at least in my opinion. Unlike other games it just doesn't feel rewarding enough.

Free..........as in free?........oh wait, my immortal soul. Gotta check the fine print.
Too late, I've already agreed to too many EULA's.

i never got to try the multiplayer because of "Strict NAT" issues.. :/

I like how the MP in DS2 was very relaxed...people who did like it just played for fun and weren't taking it too seriously. And nobody whined over mics.

Of course there's no PC love. I really wish I could spend the $10 on the severed DLC. I really want to play it, but they aren't brining it to PC.
At least Dead Space 2 is solid and without many issues, the first game still has that horrible Vsync issue.

But do I have to get it now to get the map pack, or is it possible to get them (for free) in June> too?

A company that isn't Valve releasing something for free? Wasn't the Rapture supposed to happen last week?
I'm still kind of pissed that even after buying the $100 special edition of BioShock 2 that 2K still wanted to charge for something that was on the disk and only added a couple rank levels.
