Even as an Ermac player I'm surprised he didn't get any nerfs. I don't think he really needs any personally though. There is a difference between powerful and cheap. Ermac is just powerful.

@rambo8 Just want to say Ermac isn't close to Kung Lao in cheapness. Ermac's moves FEEL cheaper when they hit you but unlike KL he is left extremely vulnerable if you block 90% of his moves. Kung Lao on the other hand is safe from reprisal even when you know EXACTLY what he's about to do and you stop it.

Glad to see they patched Upball. The lengthy recovery made it tough to justify using. Didn't think the frozen opponent damage needed an increase though...

And I agree with rambo8, Ermac needs some readjusting. Maybe his combos are affected by the general tweaks they did.

Hats off to Netherrealm for their support!

I think "increased damage scaling" means the damage got reduced, actually. This means that damage scales down faster after consecutive hits. Might be wrong, though!

For a second I thought maybe this might be them making it so the story mode final boss wasn't immune to every attack other than uppercuts spam because they realized it felt completely broken.

Silly me.

@(Unverified) The thing that was part of MK from the beginning was coin operation, which is why the bosses are so hard. We don't have to keep popping quarters in anymore, bosses shouldn't act like it. If you're really good at MK, can get all kinds of crazy 67% damage combos and all that, it still doesn't really matter against bosses, because you have to switch to a completely different playstyle that doesn't really matter if you're good or not.

@(Unverified) Yeah... That part's not charming. You don't have to be nostalgic about the crappy parts too. There's no rule. (and FYI, I'm 30.)

MK9 is an amaaazing game, and they had a good thing going for them with that epic story mode, but instead I felt most proud about beating those back to back 3-on-1 battles. The final battle just made me try it for an hour and a half until I gave up and turned it off, then came back the next day, failing, and finally youtubing the victory strategy. There was nothing positive to say about that final battle.

Oh, wait, I can add one more bad thing, though: 10 minute unskippable cutscene right before it. Thanks Ed. :(

well if game devs are choosing to patch games now without the gamers permission there must be some law that protects us from them doing that? that is just bang out of order, i don't want game devs modifying my game the way they see fit (yet it's illegal for us to modify the game ourself the way we see fit, complete irony), i hate patches with passion!

I don't even understand why you're upset. It's just some balance changes to improve the competitive nature of the game, so why would you not want that, and what do you mean you don't what developers modifying THEIR game they way they see fit? That's just too bad, hoss. When you buy a game you buy only the right to play it. The same way when you buy something digitally you buy only a license to play it. Editing game code is a developers job and right, not the consumers. So, it's not ironic in the slightest. It makes complete sense.

@(Unverified) Let me put it like this.. whenever you buy a game, you are actually buying a license to have access to the content within the game, whichever content the game devs want to put in. If they decide to modify the content afterwards, it is entirely their choice and right to do so, because THEY are the owners of the game.

@DarkSonata
If you think game developers can make *any* change to content you've paid for, then you have another think coming (regardless of what the license agreements say).

Let's say they did a patch the day after release which removed the entire online mode and 3/4 of the story. Then they could maybe release DLC to add it back in at $20 a go.

You think that would work out well, legally speaking? :)

Yes the guy whining about this change was talking bollocks. But it isn't true in that developers can literally do anything they like to stuff you've paid for. They can certainly make small beneficial changes to improve the experience and fix bugs. Luckily, developers/publishers tend to be legitimate businesses and not mafia front companies, so that's all that patches normally do. (Well, and break things, but that's by accident.)

Reptile's dash could do with a nerf, way too safe a move currently, makes him just a titch unbalanced.

Yeah Ermac's the s**t but I don't think he needs too much tweaking, Kung Lao definitely can do with that balancing they did though, much of the recent toruney that JWong won was Kung Lao mirror matches, I'd be interested to see him take on Floe's Ermac again after some more tweaks via the incoming patch.

tl;dr version
Kung Lao needs less Kung Pow.

Yeah, that's pretty easy to handle, the tougher ones who go into his main combo then uses the spear. I've played around with that one for a bit.

i never said i couldnt bet them, i cant remember a time when i lost to a scorpion online. But that was the problem, it was easy and boring online "for me", the same fight over and over.
And the projectile spam i was referring to was actually against the very few kitana and strykers i fought. it is a great game and i love it but i play online only, and the players just ruined it for me.

Glad to see sub-zero got an upgrade. I think he needed it. If youre playing anyone worth a crap its hard to freeze someone. And if you cant freeze people, then sub zero is pretty worthless.

It might be just me, but sub zeros ice needs to do damage if someone blocks. I feel like its a huge disadvantage to sub zeros range game.
