Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition spotted, available in June

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will apparently receive a "5th Anniversary Edition" on June 28. First spotted by Nitrobeard on Overstock.com, the $30 bundle also appears on Amazon.com with assets pending for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
The package will allegedly include The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game Of The Year Edition, collector's edition content like a map and DVD extras, along with a $10 coupon for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. We've contacted Bethesda for confirmation of the bundle details.
Skyrim starts its inexhaustible dragon hunt on November 11.

I've always heard good things about Oblivion. I'll pick this up. This is one of those games I just never got around to.

It's okay. I got tired of playing through the same environments over and over again. If you get it, get it on the PC. It has stuttering problems on the Xbox and PS3 or it did when I played it maybe they fixed that by now. With the Witcher 2 out now and Skyrim coming out soon I would have to pass on this. The Witcher 2 is the best RPG I have ever played and it looks absolutely Awesome.

I'm going to disagree here. Obliviion was an amazing launch-period game, and I played the crap out of it (160 hours).
But this game has NOT aged well over 5 years.
Skyrim is less than six months away. I'd say sit tight, and let Bethesda iterate over the Elder Scrolls series with lessons learned from Oblivion and Fallout, and a new engine.

Agreed it really hasn't aged to well.
Though I still plan to beat it before skyrim comes out.
I got half way and never finished it then lost my save.

This is pretty good timing. I also never got around to playing this, but was recently looking into used pricing etc, just to play it prior to skyrim's release, regardless of aging graphics & such. At $30.00 New complete with extras, I'll gladly pick this up to give the devs a little revenue boost.

@copa I don't know, I recently started playing Oblivion again and I'm enjoying it just as much as I did when I first bought it.

Pretty neat I guess, though I see this being sold more to people who already played/own Oblivian than newcomers. Funny that we never see fifth anniversary editions of console games, because the generation is usually over by year 5...

How about if any Skyrim demo is made, let it be available to everyone instead of locking it away for pre-orders or stuff like this.

I'd totally buy this if I hadn't already bought Oblivion 3 times. Once for Xbox 360, the retail disc for PC, and a copy on Direct2Drive. As Bxgt said, throw in a Skyrim demo and I'll take it.

Any word on if this version will support saves from the other versions of the game? (Xbox 360)

The GOTY edition has the original disk + a second disk which just installs the DLC as if they were downloaded from the market place.
There's most likely a very strong chance that this will just have those same 2 disks in which case it will work fine.

Maybe worth playing again. I already own the PC version but lately I find it hard to play PC games now. Perhaps it is my aging computer or all the bloatware making my computer slower than it actually is.
Has anyone purchased multiple copies of the same game across different platforms?

I own Oblivion GOTY on PC and 360. Fallout 3 on PS3 and the GOTY version on PC and 360. ME1 on PC and 360 and ME2 on 360 and PC (albeit the PC version of ME2 was the free one EA gave out from DA2).
Few other games I own on PC as well as console, but those are the bigger ones I can think of that are also from this gen.

A heads-up to anyone thinking about picking this up. The GOTY edition does not include the Horse Armor DLC so you're not really getting the full game, I guess you could play it without the Armor but hey it's your call...
Posted: May 23rd 2011 10:32AM briscott said
not bad I guess. All DLC for basically $20 if you're buying Skyrim anyway.

Not sure about the console versions (how well they have aged etc.) but if you haven't already tried the PC version it is definitely worth it. The amount of mods out there can cater to your every whim with the game, from just re-balancing the combat to changing the graphics or adding hundreds of new things to do. Brilliant value for money from that perspective and still looks great today (if you ask me).

I assume this is US only? Super-lame if it is, Oblivion is an awesome game but do agree it hasn't aged the best in particular on consoles. Totally worth it for Shivering Isles, fantastic expansion.

Agreed. From what I can tell it's just a repackaged GOTY edition which seems to only include Shivering Isles & Knights of the Nine. You'd think for a special edition like this they'd throw in all of the DLC content (Horse Armor, Orrery, Wizard's Tower, Thieves' Den, Mehrunes' Razor, Vile Lair, Spell Tomes, Fighter's Stronghold.) Not that they're expensive on their own, but rather getting a "complete" package would be a great draw.

why are they re releasing it again? strange that, if it had trophy support i would buy it in a heartbeat, otherwise no, i have the goty already and yeah shame it's only going to have a american release it seems.

Would be better if they included Morrowind, Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Oblivion, Shivering Isles, and Knights of the Nine in One $30 package for PC.

So, the DVD style double dip now comes to gaming. This is going to start a bad trend.

Sold my copy a long while back (like 3 years ago) and never finished because my data got wiped. Been wanting to pick up GOTY edition for awhile, but will now wait till this edition. Plus, 10 off Skyrim makes it even better.

I'll re-purchase the game, only because I only bought the original for console and would like all the expansions and what have you.

Sounds almost like my collectors edition, except they removed the coin and threw in the dlc. So I guess the dlc they included equals one septim? Damn exchange rate
