Isn't that PSP Go thing supposed to be the best electronic device since the computer?

Actually the device itself is pretty nice. It's just Sony's abysmal (shocking) support for it (poor game selection and zero trade in program) which totally sabotaged the thing.

Michael Pachter moment: The Xperia Play will likely be the same way.

The whole "no support" thing is pretty evident with the lack of marketing (although I'm seeing quite a bit of online ads, even on Joystiq.).

And the ridiculously high price point of both the hardware and some software titles. If it'd launched close to the same price as the regular PSP and came pre-loaded with a PSN game people might have been more willing to at least try it out.

Actually no it's quite bad for the games I play on it. You can't hold it on it's side so there goes a huge chunk of my game play time. The controls are uncomfortable and cramped and the screen really is noticeably smaller. But it does feel better built than the main PSP systems.

Yeah I dunno about that. Regular PSP doesn't have 16 GB of internal storage. But yeah it was definitely priced too high, but I imagine it was expensive to produce.

But I think the bigger issue is the cost of PSP games on PSN. They are generally very non-competitive with the general prices of games on Amazon or wherever. Although there is the occasional 50% of sale or PS+ deal. Oh and lets not forget what happens to your game purchasing capability when the PSN gets hacked....

But I honestly thing going non-media is inevitable, just Sony is botching it every chance they get. Personally, I hate shleping around a pile of discs, and sorting through them to decide what game to play. I'd much rather have a device that actually fits in my pocket, contains all my games internally, and I can just start it up and play games without fuddling around with discs/memory cards.

I remember reading somewhere that Sony intentionally inflated the price just because it was new. They said something like, "With any new product there is a group of people who must have it the day it releases. There's this idea of a premium out there." They stated the only reason it was so expensive was because of a "premium tax".

Well the good thing is that I didn't need to do anything with my password, since it was reset through the PS3 before. The update downloaded quickly.

Can't wait for the PSN Store to get back up. My PS3 and PSP1000 are waiting patiently!

Anyone know what time it should be open?

Picked up my PSP-GO at just £150 with the 10 free games deal and bought Everybody's Golf 2, the rate at which new PSP games comes out doesn't bother me. Its a great little device and does what it needs to.

Glad to see there's other people who can appreciate it, even with it's downsides. You're lucky you European bastages got that sweet 10 free games deal, in the U.S., we got 3 games, and you didn't get to choose which. (Some of them are the same titles Sony is giving to PSP owners in the apology bundle)

It does what it needs to, I guess.
But it costs more and does less than what its brothers do. That's the beef people have with it.
Luckily my library is spread out over downloads and UMDs, so I was able to properly test one out. But eh. Didn't hold me, just not as good as the regular PSP 3000. Kept the 10 games and sold on the Go for £100.

Agreed, guess I was sold on the size of the screen and the unit itself but I can understand the frustration of those who can't access what they want, loads of great titles are missing from PSN (MG AC!D & Metal Slug collection to name a few)

Hope Sony JP can work with the gov't and get PSN back up in Japan.
Sega had to postpone the Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Maximum Attack event because of the downtime. Itching to burn some time in infrastructure mode.

"System software stability during use of some features will be improved."

Not that statement again! I know this update is for the password change and all, but when exactly was the last new PSP feature added? It's been years! Unless you count the comics store I guess, but that's just another revenue stream for Sony. They'll always add as many of those as they can ASAP. How about OS updates for the PS3? Wait... didn't they add a feature where you could set the increments of time for your controller auto shut-off like a year ago or so? What an important feature that was!!!

At some point I guess they just decide they've put enough money into XMB/GUI updates and just quit. Apparently, this is the stage they have reached for both PS3 and PSP. I have been waiting years for a simple feature to separate purchased games from free demos both on PSP and PS3. Or at least a way to sort them by letter. You would think this would be in one of the first updates, but here we are years later still sorting huge lists by date created or modified. And the less said about Nintendo, the better. The last major Wii update added the SD card feature in mid-2009.

The most disingenuous part of this has to be that Sony actually has a website called Playstation Blog.Share (http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/) where they encourage customers to submit new ideas to improve the PS3 and XMB GUI. Only a tiny number of the ideas submitted have ever been implemented. An even smaller number have actually been substantive. The most popular ideas in the obviously manipulated list have never even been addressed by Sony as ever coming to the console.

In my PSP, I have a 32gb MSProDuo. In my PS3, I have a 500gb HDD (Yeah, I like to play games). So I have hundreds of games and demos to constantly cycle through. Back to the Future Episode 1 is nowhere near Episode 2. I think PAIN is somewhere in the bottom fourth of the list? And I have no idea where Peggle is in the list anymore. Thanks again, Sony! Keep patchin' them holes in your ridiculous updates and wait until NGP and PS4 to implement some actual OS improvements!

I didn't know PSP updates were even relevant still. Esp. considering E3 is mere weeks away (NGP). Just joking, people.

Sad truth.... like after a while they just stopped giving PSP games PSN online.. only game I can think of on the top of my head is resistance retribution. And that was early '09....
Btw Peace Walker was amazing. They need to follow up on that storyline n wut-not.

@Weirdo7293 It's because only the Japanese care about the PSP now, where local wifi is the only multiplayer that they care about. Though you can use AdHoc Party on the PS3 to turn almost any of those games into online games.
