I am all for this under one condition: The Soundtrack must be provided by Iron Maiden.
Only then will it be complete.

Hope the censorship boards leave this unscathed.

@Dan50

I hope they stick to the spirit of the originals enough that censorship boards DON'T leave it unscathed, and then I'll just ship in an uncensored version.

I'm sure it's nostalgia goggles, but I remember enjoying this series back in the day. Same with that game where you were a cab driver in a escape from NY type of setting.

Quarantine? - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarantine_%28video_game%29

I loved that game! Loved both of the Carmagddeon games too.

The cab game...might that be Road Warrior? Was there a scene
where you were in an arena, and could have spikes pop out
to gorge men that were running around?

After checking out both games, I think Quarantine was definitely the one I remember. Man, even it's boxart was cool

First game was the best and still is. Even with those crappy graphics, it's still awesome.

Best car combat game ever.

It's funny actually. A lot of the new gaming kids have a thing for Twisted Metal, and I have to admit I was half looking forward to the new TM game. But as soon as this was announced... yeah it's as if TM no longer matters!

Shit, I loved this series back in the day.. if you are saying who cares, you're obviously younger than 20 years old.

I am glad it will be independent. Square would probably just have you running over Chocobos or something.

I registered on Joystiq just to comment here about how happy I am that they are finally developing another Carmageddon title. I have waited years and have searched countless times online for any news on the 4th part for the game. Part 1 and 2 were my favorites and I have had an insane amount of fun with them. I still install Carmageddon 2 when I am being nostalgic! This is great news, I can't wait!

@Dan50 I use either a virtual machine on my Mac using Parallels and Windows XP or on my older system I have Windows XP installed. Carmageddon 2 runs fine on XP. I haven't played Carma 1 in ages, but I used to play it in a pure DOS environment ;)

@Dan50 You need to patch your Carma 2 to make it work on Vista/Windows 7.
