New 'limited' PS3 bundle throws in Call of Duty: Black Ops

This might be a slightly scary time to become a PS3 owner, but Sony and Activision are making it a bit more appealing by launching a limited-edition Call of Duty: Black Ops bundle on March 31. The package contains a 160GB PS3 system, the game, and the First Strike DLC, for the PS3's regular $299.99 price. So you get the best-selling game of all time for free. Not bad!

Of course, the downside to that is that since it's the best-selling game ever, you might already have a copy on another system. But for those of you who haven't gotten it yet, totally great deal!

Sony Computer Entertainment America Announces Limited Edition PlayStation®3 Call of Duty: Black Ops Bundle
May 25, 2011 - Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) today announced the limited edition PlayStation 3 Call of Duty®: Black Ops Bundle, bringing together the best selling PlayStation 3 title of all-time with the PS3 computer entertainment system. Available on May 31, 2011, the bundle includes a 160 GB PS3 system, Activision Publishing Inc., and Treyarch's Call of Duty®: Black Ops on Blu-ray disc, plus Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike Content Pack, all for $299.99 MSRP.

Battlefield 3 isn't that original either yet people claim that it's gonna be the second coming of FPS game.

@supersonic124 First off, "the majority of gamers" do not hate on popular games. The majority of gamers play these popular games, which is how they get popular. This vocal minority you see on forums and blogs like this is not the law.

And if Battlefield 3 "gets popular" then of course some people might not like it, like you see here. But even so, the Battlefield series will get much less hate because it's actually tactical and takes some effort to do well in.

I dunno man. Whenever I play Battlefield, everyone camps like wimps. (Why play a shooter game if you're not gonna move at all?)

I don't know if that counts as "tactical" but I might just be a bit biased since I'm used to playing fast paced games.

Also, people used to say the same thing about Call of Duty before it got popular. Haters gonna hate.

Lol... Gets popular. Implying BF franchise isn't already popular. The reason so many people hate on COD is because it is the same crap every year. The only reason it is the number one selling game is because the masses in general are stupid. Same reason jersey shores, justin beiber, lady gaga, ect is so popular. People are idiots.

You guys can downvote me all you but Battlefield 3 isn't that much original either. All it has is better graphics, and a few "realistic" features but that's pretty much it. You can't even argue that.

It's not the fact its popular it's that they put out a crappy rehash every year, and it's been the same game since 4. That and the multiplayer takes no skill, has no learning curve and any moron can pick it up and play it. If they made a quality title, every 3 or so years, changed the game up more, didn't make a horrible skilless, unbalenced multiplayer, I wouldn't have much of a problem with COD.

That's the reason why COD is popular, sure the game play is similar in each game but it's fun and easy to pick up and play. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You can't really say that about Battlefield.

EA better take notes from Activision with Battlefield 3 or otherwise the game isn't going to succeed.

@supersonic124 I don't care if the game succeeds or not I know it will be better then COD. If you haven't read the GameInformer article about BF3 a few issues back read it. They just hit it right on the head on what online multiplayer is like. I would rather have a good balanced game with a learning curve that isn't popular, then have a broken ass steaming pile of crap game like COD that requires no skill and little thought and have it sell like crazy. Popularity doesn't mean shit to me, I just want quality and a challenge something COD can't offer to expierenced and intelligent gamers.

This is Sony's Bid to get back the PS3 fans who already left the platform because they could not play this game online. IE INdustry Gamers is quoted as saying 11 million poeple have left the PSN because they could not play this game in particular online for so long.

PS3 from a hardware standpoint is a software engineers nightmere, while they do have some exelent software engineers at Sony who can make some killer looking, and playing games. I don't think I need to list the developers because we should all know them by now.

I agree. No matter the subtle nuances (make building go boom) most FPS are retreads with minimal changes from one iteration to the next. I still love to play some but I don't go around bashing one or the other. Just different breeds of the same cat.

So late to the party.
Why not a Resistance 3 Bundle instead?
Though I guess there is still time for that to happen.

an Uncharted 3 Bundle would sell more than an R3 bundle.....AND more than this late ass BlOps bundle....I didn't know MS had exclusives on bundles too....

Uh, I don't know. Maybe because R3 doesn't come out until the Holidays and this is in store shelves now? Bundles are created based on games that already in the market or coming out right away, otherwise they have no game to put inside of the bundle. When has that happened?

You can bet that in a few months there will be an Uncharted 3 bundle and that by Christmas there will be a Resistance 3 as well.

Good purchase for the 100 billion ppl who don't already own Black Ops.

Not saying this is a bad idea but they could have gone with a game thats about to release, not some game that has been on the market for six months now or has sold 10,021,656 units since release on this console.

Maybe I just hate twitch shooters, but I think the Battlefield multiplayer experience is always far superior to BlOps. I HATE in BlOps, how its basically a 1 shot kill game, and 1 guy can just obliterate 6 other guys if he sneaks up on them. It just kills any sort of team gameplay what so ever. I prefer games where playing as a team is actually of some benefit.

$299 is still to much. Come on SONY! Do a $199 PS3! ! ! :P (with no games of course)

If they really wanted this to sell like hot cakes they should have made a custom casing for the PS3, like they did for MGS4 and Final Fantasy in Japan.
