@LEGIONSINGULARGETHUNIT yeah in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on PS3. Oddly enough it was still M rated.

I guess that's in reference to the Sigma updates for PS3, which were less violent than the Xbox/360 originals.

@LEGIONSINGULARGETHUNIT

Ninja Gaiden Sygma 2, remade by the current "Team Ninja", who didn't believe in the ultra-violence Itagaki promoted. They only really did it to try and separate themselves as far from him as possible as soon as possible.

Instead of lopped limbs and blood, they replaced it with magically disappearing body parts and rainbow sparkles. Okay, I'm exaggerating a little with that last part, but... only a little. It was just sparkly blue/green magic inside the bodies, about it.

@KIDPLUS
The game got a more lax content rating in Japan, though, which I'm pretty sure was the point.

I need to beat the first 2 before this one comes out. Of course, I say that about a lot of sequels, but I never get around to actually doing it.

@Xeno378 This is one of those games where you really don't have to play the previous games in order to like/understand/appreciate/etc. this one.

While that may be the case, I'm a completionist, and I force myself to play games in sequence whenever possible. Damn my mild OCD tendencies!

Good luck man...I managed to pull off all the achievements in II and found everything in one.

...and just thinking about it makes my hands hurt. Never again.

I'd like your PSN handle to confirm your outlandish claims.

But in all seriousness, kudos man. I respect your dedication.

Toned down from what? Ninja Gaiden 2 or Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2? I think Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 managed to get the difficulty just right once they got rid of that stupid tunnel worm mission.

I have played only the first two missions of NG2, but it seemed to be much, much easier than the first one, which was devilish. Is it really easier?

@TheShaper The initial difficulties were piss easy. The jump from those difficulties to Mentor Mode, however, was a huge leap. Same from Mentor to Master Ninja. It gets considerable difficult in the other 2 difficulty levels.

The store is gone? So, what, do weapons get experience points or something? Because I guess I could live with that, even though I really liked the store and thought it did a good job of balancing the two previous games.

@Noksukow
That's what I meant by weapons getting experience points - each weapon gets XP for every enemy you kill with it, and and with enough XP it will level up to its next form. It wouldn't really be all that different from the current weapon upgrade system, really, except instead of gathering orbs to spend on whatever weapon you want the next time you come to an upgrade shop, you skip a step and it'll matter more what type of weapon you're using at any given time. If they're getting rid of the shop, this would be the only sensible weapon upgrade system I can think of. Having them upgrade automatically at certain points throughout the game would be hella lame.

I wonder if the upgrade system will be similar to how Darksiders did it. In that game, your sword, scythe, and gauntlets obtained a certain amount of exp. per enemy slaughtered and would eventually level up, thus making them do more damage, ect. What would be cool is if they also allowed you to customize the weapons with runes or whatever that would alter both the weapon's stats as well as your own in some way. That was one of my favorite aspects of Darksiders. What a great game that was!

I like this: "the difficulty level 'won't be toned down for casual gamers'"

Beat NG2 (and NG, but that never got patched) on MNM before all the patches that made the game easier (sure, the beginning portion on MNM was kind of stupid, but very doable nevertheless).

....I just realized I was talking about MNM, haha! I really doubt casual players would even touch that mode anyways, so... let's see...

The other modes were easy. No point in toning the difficulty down. I mean, you new-age "casual players" can use your brains, no :)?

@Narmo23 I never really get why this is such an issue for developers. I guess they want things to feel balanced... but stick in some baby mode for people to enjoy the game, maybe remove some of the achievements and trophies and then everyone is happy.

I have a similar argument with recent super easy Zelda games. I like me some difficulty options.

Color me worried, since I'm paranoid of what Hayashi can do. But I'll just wait for a gameplay video. Some of these things aren't really something I welcome though, hopefully that will change.

I'm not sure motion controls would go well with this, it's not like I have any chance of recreating his actual attacks so I doubt it but be 1:1 which is all I'm looking for really.

If they're going to not tone down the difficulty, let players pick the difficulty level they want at the start. In NGS2, you could only start with easy or normal difficulty. Even normal was a million times easier than NGS1. I unlocked hard difficulty when I beat normal but by then I was tired of the game and didn't want to play through it again.
