Sonic Free Riders hits Games on Demand

Sega presents its argument for the renaming of the Xbox 360 "Games on Demand" service today (to something like "Here are Some Games,") with the release of Sonic Free Riders. We don't know who's been demanding immediate, at-home access to Sega's Kinect-only mascot hoverboard racer, but if you're part of that invisible contingent, here you go. It costs $50.

Okay, so it may not be the most desirable title, but Sonic Free Riders is actually one of just two Kinect titles on Games on Demand. Or the only one, depending on how you'd categorize Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.

Angry Joe is more vomit inducing than Sonic Free Riders could ever hope to be, and it tries its damnedest.

Oh... great.

This game is horrible! Kinect sports, dance central and kinect adventures are the only bright spots for kinect so far..........well, that and turning off the lights and playing with my COD NVGs! Lol

Wait, so I get to pay $50 for a (at best) meh game that would cost me only $30 or less if I go to a store to pick it up.... Someone really needs to tell MS they need to price these games more reasonable / competitive.

Pricing is at the publisher's discretion, not Microsoft's.

Yeah unfortunately that is why a lot of these digital download schemes are failing as hard as they are. It would be one thing if they were cheaper and offered at launch.

But they are offered on average a 6mo to a year after the game launched at full launch MSRP. The disconnect between reality and "digital" reality is staggering.

Sometimes the only conclusion I can come to is that they must want to fail.

I didn't know the xbl marketplace had a bargain bin. This game ist worth looking in to.

And apparently Microsoft didn't get the memo that any slightly informed gamer knows that this game blows.

Yeah, it's $50 on GoD, but can someone explain to me how on the same service, that 50 Cent Blood on the Sand game -- generally regarded as a mediocre "joke" title and it came out in 2008, and was recently released on the service -- is $60? That's even worse.

And that's pretty much the problem with Kinect. It's really technically impressive, but it's been half a year and we still have almost no software that really takes advantage of it and is really worthwhile.

This game's only 1.71 gigs.
