@shabby329 IMDB says he posed nude for some magazine. So looks can be completely accurate.

Takashi Miike has got to have the most diverse filmography for any director in the history of film making.

Do Japanese lawyers look like that? Something tells me that the judge would yell objection to his attire.

What did they do to his hair? You'd think they would at least try to get the series' most iconic thing, aside from possibly the OBJECTION, right.

@Mehbah This looks like a head shot, not an on-set photo. Yes, he's wearing a blue jacket, but one should reserve judgment until actual, on-set photos are released.

That style would be rather tedious, if not impossible, thing to do with someone's hair. It looks like they went for a bit more realistic version, since if you look close its still spiking back, it's just not as pronounced as the drawing because of the angles.

You mean you thought Phoenix was American rather than Japanese? Well, all credit to the localisers for fooling you that it was set in the US... but with his first name being Ryuuichi in the original version, I rather suspect he's Japanese. (As are, more or less, all the characters.)

I haven't seen any of the original Japanese games but I suspect they're quite a lot different. You could spot some of the bits where an obvious localisation change happened, but overall it was well done.

Ordinarily I do prefer to be treated like an adult (yes I'm capable of understanding that people in Japan eat different types of food or whatever) but in this case the localisation has generally been really good, so credit to them.

@BaronVonSachsen Where are you getting that? We know nothing about it apart from the director (who is a well known name internationally) and the cast. You've got no idea if it's good or not, and nobody else does either. It hasn't even been shot.

They should not have gone the live-action route with this. An animated film would have been a much better direction to take.

Agreed. Ace Attorney's colorful, over-the-top sensibilities would translate far better to anime than live action. Then again, most Japanese comedies are practically like live-action cartoons to begin with.

@gatotsu911 Capcom decided that the series isn't profitable enough, so probably never.

In case you hadn't heard that Capcom has "no plans" on releasing the latest game in the series outside of Japan; it launched there in February.
