PSN service coming back in Asia tomorrow, Welcome Back package detailed

While there were some extra ... hurdles before PlayStation Network services could be restored in Japan, Sony announced that the phased renewal of network services for Japan and other Asian territories will go through tomorrow -- except for Korea and Hong Kong, whose service renewal "will be announced as soon as ready." Like North America and Europe, the services coming back include online play, sign-in (with password change), and Home. The torne DVR thing will also be usable again.

When the PlayStation Store does return, PSN members in Asia will have their own PS3 and PSP Welcome Back packages, from which to choose two games for each system. And they're ... different. Instead of games like Dead Nation and Infamous, PS3 owners can choose from the following five games:

The Last Guy
LocoRoco Cocoreccho!
echochrome
WipEout HD
Hustler King

And for PSP, the choices include:

Yuhshanokuseninamaikida or2 PSP® the Best (What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2)
Everybody's Stress Buster (Hot Shots Shorties)
PATAPON2 PSP® the Best
LittleBigPlanet Portable
LocoRoco -Midnight Carnival-

Users also get 30 days free PlayStation Plus access, Home stuff, free "select" movie rentals, and a month of "Platinya" membership for the weekly news program/cat minigame collection Weekly Toro Station.

Same here. I originally made that account just to download the Bayonetta demo. I also have a European and US account so I should be getting my fill of games here. ;)

@Jason B What am I going to abuse? I have had both an EU and a JP account since December of 2006...I buy more than plenty of 1st and 3rd party games and peripherals and I try not to buy used. I think Sony won't mind.

Agreed, although my 'justifiable, wildly random situation' is that seeing as they lost my completely random and fictional personal details for these accounts, im collecting my 'were sorry' package ;o)

In all honesty, of the EU (UK) stuff, theres only 1 title i dont own, the US i have all of them, and Asian theres 2, and i cant say im bothered about echochrome. I'd be more than happy to just download the 2 im bothered about from my UK account only, if the selection wasnt taken from a pool of games the majority of Sonys loyal gamers are likely to already own. The only people who really benefit are late buyers and the casual market.
It doesnt justify that i'll take items from foreign stores, it certainly will get abused, and i'll be one of them... my abuse will only go as far as downloading 2, maybe 3 titles. I wont lie though, if there was 10 titles of interest... you can guess the rest. At least now i can actually download 2 titles as part of my 'entitlement' as a welcome back gift.

Interestingly it seems Asia is actually getting the worst deal this time, after years of exlusives unavailable in the west. None of those games are worth more than £15

I'd call that lucky, the rest of it .... not so much Patapon2 is nice tho.
I'm guessing "the best" is some sort of gold deal for games that have sold X copies or something.

Which is where I think Sony is letting people down everywhere, offering games that a decent portion of the people effected already have. They might want to increase the pool of options across the board.

i guess you mean Torne. Hmm.. I've been recording for a couple weeks now. so, I think the torne part coming back is prolly the option to talk about the show with other people who are watching the show. or twitter integration. i don't know much about network function of the Torne, but, yeah, recording is just fine. But weird that i get trophies for different types of shows i'm watching.

This is a joke of a welcome back package.. I'm sorry but I would take Infamous over echochrome any day of the week. On top of that we have had to wait almost 2 weeks longer than the US and Europe... Just another blatant way for Sony to shaft the Asian gamers.... Shit have you seen the asian PS store. We don't even get map packs for Call of duty.

I don't think the map packs have anything to do with Sony. Blame Activision and Japanese gamer's lack of interest in FPS.

Not in Japan buddy, but I can tell you the are always on FPS shooters Black Ops in particular..... As servers are hosted there, that's where we get most of our connections.... We don't even have dedicated servers in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, and I have lived and worked in all 3 of those countries.

The Asian Store is POOR full stop, it's like chalk and cheese compared to other stores. DL content on all games is poor. I think the only decent DL content is for Burnout Paradise...

very poor selection, considering that asian psn its still down compared to the US one. Plus it seems that sony wants to alienate to its most loyal asian fans to microsoft i guess

North america desperatly needs psn store. I have been wanting to download and swap my psp games for at least six weeks. I really need different games to play

I wonder when they're going to announce the contents of the Asia-region Welcome Back package. The above games are specifically for Japan, according to the press release.

I guess that's Sony's way of getting back at Japan for holding them back during the relaunch - give them a pile of crappy games.
