Resistance 'Dual Pack' coming July 5, bonus content revealed
19
Clearly you're enthusiastic about the Resistance series if you don't own either of the first two games, so it goes without saying that you're all about dressing up as a generic-looking soldier in the third game's multiplayer. Insomniac apparently knows this, as the studio took to the US PlayStation blog today to announce said multiplayer "Capelli" skin as part of the bonuses included in the Resistance "Dual Pack," launching on July 5. He's ... uh ... got a beanie? Awesome?
As previously revealed by an insert in the Battle: Los Angeles Blu-ray, the two-pack of Resistance titles will also include "$10 worth of bonus content," detailed as the "Aftermath" map, a skin bundle, and the "wraith skin" multiplayer weapons for Resistance 2. When the pack arrives on July 5, it comes with an asking price of $39.99.

I played Resistance 2 to death, but I’ve never got around to playing Fall of Man. And I agree with #5, how hard can it be to add trophies? If anything, it would help boost sales."

Not nearly as easy as you think (involving re-opening long dormant code, assigning people to it, testing it, sending it through certification, etc etc) – meanwhile, all of those resources code, and are being used to make Resistance 3 the best game possible"
Sounds like a no.

Isn't it everyone's dream to dress as a generic soldier in multiplayer?

Are both games on one disc? Because that would be pretty cool.

@DVDSandwich After looking at the picture on the PS.Blog more thoroughly it is evident that this is not the case.

I'm guessing it's just the two regular DVD cases neatly packed together in a new outer casing. At least, that's what it looks like based on the girth of that thing.

Got to buy a movie to get in a beta. When will it end. Remember when developers actually used betas to help deliver a polished bug free retail game to the consumer. Now betas along with demos are nothing more then marketing tools.
Just once I would like to see a so-called game journalist call a dev or publisher on this crap during an interview. Probably won't happen though due to the fear of losing a future exclusive or advertising.

The movie comes with a demo of the boat level they keep showing, it is not the beta.
For other games doing this such as Uncharted beta codes in Infamous it is for advertising as multiplayer demos (and to a smaller extent server stress test). But normally there is a much smaller group to test the closed beta beforehand, giving in most of the feedback. Being in the LBP 2 closed beta before they opened it to playstation plus and other people I know that there was a ton of changes made to the final game based on feedback. R2 had this as well as R3 I am sure.
And of course a demo is a marketing tool, what other purpose does it serve for the dev?

People seem to equate demos with feedback tools. That's not a demo, that's a beta. The demo would likely be based of finished or near finished code, or, in some rare cases, based on early unfinished work as a way to get people excited for the progress. Either way, the sole purpose of a demo is pretty much to get people to want to buy the game.

Some betas are done far enough in advance of a release date so they are actually used to help the game. Gears 3 is the most recent one I can think of. Demos on the other hand, are used for marketing purposes. That's what they are designed for, I'm not sure what you think a demo should be used for other than that.

I'd definitely buy this if it came with a PS3 version of Resistance: Retribution, all spruced up in HD and with trophies. Especially after all the PS3-PSP connectivity the game had.
There's always hope, right?

Anyone rent Battle: LA from Netflix yet? I rented District 9 from them when the God of War III demo was supposed to be on the disc, but the demo was a no-show.
I'm guessing that the demos are only on the retail versions as an extra to spur sales.
