I played this game at my friends house... It's terrible. All soldiers like like Elites, structures look straight out of starcraft (the turret is an exact copy..) generic gameplay, no iron sights... weird zooming in.... games just a mess. Only cool part was launching from the pod.

@Revengez How is no iron sights a bad thing?

@Martyrdom It's not that it's bad... It's just the direction of the game seems awkward. I mean Halo doesn't have iron sights, but it just feels more natural too me... It, in my opinion is just a horrible game. For $15, it's a good deal with the content, but the mechanics and actually gameplay is just bad.

Again, that's IMO.

Downvote me, doesn't matter. If you don't agree... Then you don't.

@Revengez hate to break it to you ace, but most popular fiction is a ripoff of another work. I would argue that Halo's story and lead are not the most original. Starcraft and Warcraft came from Warhammer 40K and Fantasy who came from Starship troopers and Lord of the rings... This game is generic but it also scratches an itch for me and the price was made it far more palettable vs how the one time dlc ODST left me feeling...

Ugh, having all my games on steam, I really dislike the idea of buying any DLC from GFWL ._.
Just my OCD I suppose.

@SergioAM I agree with you on that. I buy all my pc games from Steam with the exception of MineCraft and hunble Indy Bundles. You can always add them to Steam, but I want my achievements to be there!

I think that the developer really needs a hearty thank you from the gaming community for the way they have priced their game and the upcoming map pack. They could have put the game on a disc and charged sixty dollars for it (I'm looking at you Brink) but they went the cheap, downloadable route. Now the map pack is cheap too. Not sure if I will purchase it, but I appreciate the effort they are making.

@(Unverified) so you cant get past the "screenshots" even though the overwhelming majority of opininons in the replies of every article about the game here have been positive?

You're looking in the wrong places if all you see is talk of it being "mediocre", I've seen tons of praise for the title. Great customization allowing lots of different play styles, solid campaign, DCMs add lots of variety for the minute-to-minute gameplay, dedicated servers, etc. One of the best purchases I've ever made on XBL. You're missing out.

You can always download the demo and play it online for 30 minutes for free. That's the easy way to see if you like it. Otherwise, your criticism is without merit.

I am enjoying the game and, since the map pack is reasonably priced, will pick it up. That said, I would also like to see a balancing patch. the game has been out long enough to see what needs buffing and what needs nerfing. For example, the jammer beacon is a must have as it is so versatile. It hides you on the radar, prevents you from being locked on to, hides your health/armor levels, and stops nearby enemy turets from firing. In comparison, the sensor beacon just displays nearby enemies, and the jammer beacon even overrides that.

Now if they could just somehow add in some splitscreen action even if its just for the campaign.

@Nirvash Planeteer Power of Capt I used to (and still often do) get an arcade game every weekend and spend Friday and Saturday marathon gaming the pants off it. This game and Clash of Heroes have been two recent gems that have had a lot more play time from me beyond the initial weekend. They are fondly seated alongside Carcassone, Band of Bugs, PuzzleQuest, Streetfighter HD Remix, etc...
I really failed to make my point above. I have had a bad couple of years with a divorce and loss of my old job when the economy went into the toilet. Video games have really been there for me on those lonely weekends. A lot of sad days became great achievement hunting marathons instead. Good on you PSN and XBLA!

Day 1 purchase for me, this game is amazing. Supposedly the patch for the freezing will come on the same day too, so then this game will be pretty much perfect.

If anyone is on the fence about this game -- get it. This game finds comfortable ground between the extremely hardcore (Tribes) and the casual shooter (Halo).

The learning curve is a little rough, but it's not impossible. You can jetpack, rocket-jump, launch mortars from your back, put explosive rounds on your sniper rifle.

For $15 this is an amazing deal. The only problem with this game is that the community is a little small, I am really glad to see this on Joystiq.

I don't recommend this game. I was suckered in by the 30 minute trial, and bought the full game. As you rank up, you unlock the EMP Pulse Cannon and the Jammer Beacon. These two items really shut down the game's variety of features.

Poorly balanced game.

@GuardianLegend

It really depends on the individual player. The Pulse Cannon is admittedly OP, and presents imbalance to the game. Most of the community is hoping that TG will balance the game further, and a patch is due out on Monday.

That said, you don't have to use the Pulse Cannon to be effective at all. I NEVER use it and I constantly top the scoreboards.

This. I tried the Pulse Cannon out, it was nice but just didn't do it for me. So if you think that's the only way to play, you're giving up.

If the two maps are split for small-scale games like the four ones in the main game were, then this is some serious bang for the buck.

So the term "Section 8" in America doesn't have a very good connotation. Section 8 is colloquial term for an affordable housing program. Is the title intentional.

@MDizzy Section 8 in military terms is refering to someone who is deemed insane have you never watched M.A.S.H. where Klinger is always dressing like a girl and act crazy so he can get a section 8 discharge?
The term Section 8 refers to a category of discharge from the United States military for reason of being mentally unfit for service. It also came to mean any serviceperson given such a discharge or behaving as if deserving such a discharge (as in the sentence "He's a Section 8"). The term comes from Section VIII of the World War II-era United States Army Regulation 615-360, which provided for the discharge of those deemed unfit for military service

@alucard3000 So what does it have to do with the game? I guess I've gotta play it. But in the trial wasn't section 8 just the name of the division that you're in? I guess I need to go ahead and buy this after I finish of LA Noire

@MDizzy

It's supposed to be a reference to how they take on suicidal missions, jump out of dropships from high up and hurtle down to the ground and land just using their suits, etc.
