Here's what you'll be doing in the Uncharted 3 beta

All you probably need to know about the Uncharted 3 beta is that it's more Uncharted -- and therefore you want it right the hell now. Thinking about it that way, the article full of details posted by IGN is extraneous. But on the other hand, new info!

The beta includes two multiplayer maps: Chateau and the Airstrip (described here), both with "dynamic events" occurring during play, like planes flying in. Players can choose from nine modes including Team Deathmatch, 3-Team Deathmatch, Team Objective, Free For All, Plunder, High Stakes, and three unrevealed co-op modes that IGN mercilessly teased for a later reveal. Players will choose either a Drake/Sully/"treasure hunter" Hero team or a bad-guy team made up of customizable pirates.

Four of the new "Power Play" events will also feature in the beta. These one-minute events change the rules (like "marking" one person on the winning team to be worth three points) to turn the game around at critical moments.

Check IGN for the full rundown of beta components. The beta launches officially on July 4, but will be accessible early, on June 28, for Infamous 2 owners and PlayStation Plus members. Which, thanks to one of Sony's acts of contrition, will be everybody! As long as the store is back up by then, that is. The beta is set to end July 13.

Wow going on vacation from June 29th til July 20th with no PS3. 1 day of beta for me. :(

Nine modes?! I did not expect that.

I really loved Uncharted 2's multiplayer. It was unique, and interesting, but I almost never played it. I'm not sure why, but I'm definitely looking forward to giving UC3's multiplayer a chance whenever I get it (you know...after I'm done with BF3, Dark Souls, Skyrim, and all the other crap I've got to play in Q4. Unless Diablo III comes out, in which case I'll have no time for anything)

I love maps that have 'dynamic event' type things that change the map mid game, like Relic from Halo 2.

This is the best reward to come from the psn outage, I had so much fun with the Uncharted 2 beta and this one looks to have so much more multi player content

Eh I hated Uncharted 2's multiplayer. I wish they would just scrap the multiplayer and focus on making the singleplayer even more epic and longer all around. I was disappointed by how short the 2nd one was. I have countless multiplayer games already, I play uncharted for the epic singleplayer and platforming.

@Anticrawl Short? It's decently long for a game of this gen. They told the story well, I didn't feel it need anything more. My only complaint about the multiplayer is I didn't play it enough. Stupid MW kept sucking me back in.

Apparently I'm the only one out there who fell in love with Uncharted's fantastic singleplayer, and puzzle platforming and not it's multiplayer. Ah well I guess watered-down and unspecialized is where gamers want the industry to head...

Naughty Dog never half asses anything, and the mp for UC2 didn't feel tacked on at all, and provided a service for people looking for something after the single player and somehow play this amazing game with friends!
You need to lighting up because you were never forced to play it, and the story ended where the creators wanted it, where it needed to.the single was polished and fleshed out beyond expectations for a sequel, so yeah

I'll be lucky if I'm doing anything. Sony just delayed bringing the PSN store up again.

I'm so pissed. I've been very patient, but because my PS3 broke and I now have a repaired one, I cannot redownload the DLC maps for Uncharted 2 that I bought months ago. I am stuck playing the basic maps, simply because Sony can't figure out how to let me redownload the DLC I already own.

Sony, get a grip. You've done an awful job at this.

A whole new world of glitches to find! :D Can't wait.

I'm hoping Naughty Dog keeps their eye on me, so I can help them find the glitches early, and fix them before the actual game comes out.
