I have a Windows Phone; I can't wait for this update. It's a nice OS, it just needs some fine tuning, and Mango looks to be it and more so.

I agree with you. The OS is pretty nice. It is only going to get better with Mango.

@Arsenic13 Rumors are that the Mango update will bring Xbox Live multiplayer. Hopefully there will be some exciting WP7 announcements at E3 next week.

It looks like they are getting away from the xbox live extras app. which is what you had to launch after you started looking at the main xbox live app to mess with your avatar. the poking was already there but it seems they are adding more features without launching that other app to do so. Update looks pretty cool though.

Why would anybody feel the need to play with their avatar on the go? I haven't touched mine since the update came out a few years ago.

In the next "Apple" patch, your avatar will become an artsy douche who bases all of his purchasing decisions on brand-recognition.

I wish I had Judge Doom's vat of dip to put all those stupid looking avatars in. I wish the wretched wii-wanna be freaks were optional.

I'm confident in my statement that the world would be a much better place if everyone who actually likes these avatars or Miis just disappeared. And if every marketing douche who pushed the idea got severely, severely punished for the rest of their lives.

Maybe I would have the things slightly less if Microsoft wasn't using them to brag about how they now charge for content that is part of the game. "hey look, I bought us some weapons that give us an advantage!"

Also, Pacman CE DX on WP7 rocks!

Good luck with that. You might as well get an Android, Blackberry, or an iPhone if you want any apps. WinMo/WP7 have hardly any support.

@furious

So let me get this correct. In the first six months alone, Windows Phone gains over 18,000 apps in it's Marketplace, plus has thousands more apps in the pipeline and hitting the Marketplace every month, and that magically constitutes "hardly any support".

You know, I REALLY hate haters. I don't even have a Windows Phone for crying out loud. I own a MyTouch 4G, and even I know what you just said was the most ignorant, fanboy thing posted on this entire page.

No Windows Phone does not have the app library depth of Android (300,000), or iOS (500,000). For starters both of those app ecosystems have been around for years, and anyone with even half a working brain cell would expect them both to have more apps. And second, no one needs 10,000 apps dedicated to their Twitter feed, or 15,000 apps dedicated to Pandora. You only need one good app that works well with your phone. The other bazillion apps out there are superfluous. And the way Windows Phone works, especially after the Mango update, apps "talk" to each other and can share data directly with the OS, which in turn can chose and/or recommend other relevant apps to share that data with, to help the user complete a given task from point A to point Z. With apps able to share their data with the OS and with other apps, the reliance on having to have tons of apps, just goes right out the window.

So 18,000 apps in the first six months, with thousands more on the way . . . that works out more than fine, and hardly constitutes as, "hardly any support."

I think it's fair to say though that in comparison, WM7 hardly gets support when compared to the other mobile OS's, and I think that's all he was trying to say. I'm not ripping on it, but when even Engadget hasn't released one yet, it says something.

In ads, MS tends to use the generic phone image you see there. It's just a concept placeholder. That phone doesn't actually exist.

Can't wait for Mango for my WP7, however not for the sole reason of poking my avatar and making it fall down...

Guess that will be a great marketing tool for all the 10 year olds that are looking for a new cell phone. Or they could just release a WP7 named C.O.D. Cell Ops and that would probably work too.

I have a Windows phone. I'm 37. I've had Android based phones and an iPhone. Win Phone 7, is absolutely fantastic, it's one of the best phones I have ever had. I'm a Windows user so the integration is pretty fantastic. I think I've used my Avatar program once on the phone. Yeah, it's pretty pointless, it isn't really for me, but some may see it as enticing.

The big point on the video is multiplayer gaming via Xbox Live and the phone, they also don't show the Kinect integration which is going to blow peoples minds...

Man... I still remember when XBL and WM7 were announced I was so hyped MS was getting into the handheld gaming market. Time has passed and I feel really let down. :\ I mean seriously... Halo: CE for WM7 would sell phones or Zunes or whatever they have it run on!

But seriously, multitasking and full-on messenger/email/text integration and whatnot? Yeah, this looks good!
